Well my friend asked me to build his comp and well, I need your guys' help on it. His budget is $2500 and the 8800 must be on it (since he likes gaming). I'm most likely gonna get the same comp later but don't know yet. Thanks guys.
USD right and 2500. qx6700 $1k 2GB RAM $250 TWO 8800GTSes $750 motherboard $170 case 150 harddrive $85 DVD drive 30 some other stuff, yeh...
It's actually Canadian lol. We're both in Canada. Sorry I didn't clarify that before. Is it possible for you to give links on tigerdirect or somethin? I know about the 8800 and the CPU but for ram, dvd, HD and motherboard...im clueless on what brand, "socket" and all that stuff.
Thanks a lot, also I wanted to know, how can you put 2 8800's in a case? Well first, is it possible? Second, whats the difference? Just more power? And won't they be around $1500? (1 = $750; 2 = $1500) How does it work then?
in USD, an 8800GTS is 370ish USD. the GTX which is approximately 30% more powerful costs $550USD and you need a motherboard which supports SLi to do it as for the fitting part, if the case fits onem chances are it will fit two, but chances are, one would eb mroethan sufficient to be honest, ntoa bad thing to leave options open though.
if your going to game do not put the qx in there its not a gaming processor since no games will support it
no games ATM.... but either way its still one hell of a processor and there will be ALOT of programs that do utilize it once vista is out. waits for xelink to pwn lol (sry its coming you cant deny it.)
Uhh, that is a bit misleading. The QX6700 can play games, but there are no games that are quad-threaded. That does not mean it can't play games, it just means that the game is not utilizing all 4 cores.
after realizing the budget is canadian, he'd probably be "better off" with a dual core CPU for the moment, say a cheap e4300, and then overclocking it. the price diference can later go into buying peryn(conroes/kentsfields successor) should he feal that the allendale(e4300) isn't fast enough. he can then sell the e4300 and be money ahead, should from what I understand peryns is a fairly decent improvement, 45nm manufacturing process, quadcore, and HYPERTHREADED. That means 8 logical cores. Remember kids, C2 has a lot wider of an execution core than the P4s did so HT will work better on it.
Well, it can't be for the moment because he can only get one computer and he wants a Conroe. Also, he doesn't know how to overclock and doesn't want to try it either. Wouldn't a e6600 be alright?
Yes it would, if he has left over money, he can get the E'6700. And the motherboards with nForce chipsets aren't the best overclocking board, so it all works out.
Well if thats alright, then I would say that. So can you guys help me with the build? Like the motherboard etc.. since I only know GFX cards and CPUs mainly. Thanks.
