A pair of 2.8 Ghz xeon processors-for only 50 bucks. Sounds like a good deal right? Yeah? Yeah.

But what are your thoughts on them? Are 2.8 ghz xeon processors good or bad? Are they ultra super fast or something? Thoughts? =)

looked on newwegg and one of them costs 205$ doesn't seem like a bad processor for the price.

Is it with the Netburst Architecture, or Intel Core MicroArchitecture?

There is a big difference, nonetheless, those processors for $50 wouldn't be bad. You'd need a dual-socket motherboard though.

well, tbh, it doesn't sound like you know much about what you are wanting to buy here. get more information before you buy, that way you know exactly what you are getting. if you need help with the specific information, you can always come back to this thread and ask for help. As it be, describing a 2.8Ghz Xeon is not enough.

There are different versions of the Xeons, I can't tell just by saying "2.8Ghz".

the cost of the motherbaord would make it NOT worth it.

a single dual core Core2 based CPU would likely be a better choice in most scenarios.

also, no Core based XEONs officially run at 2.8GHz and have you ever tried OCIng a Xeon? you can't even underclock those suckers...

imo Xeons might be a good CPU but thre mainly for Servers Hench having a duel socketd *server* board mate i suggest to you to look into the new AMD AM2 4200+ or the Intel Core Duos those things fly with a good mobo and ram youll never see things run so quickly O_O

but its your money but i think why waste money when you can save up a bit more and get that much more power threw 1 chip =/ just my opinion buddie gl

they run sufficiently fast, especially when overclocked.
