I am looking for the best AGP card I looked at all the ones on newegg but not sure of which is better. Right now I have Geforce 6600 and want to upgrade. The most I will spend is $140. If anyone can post a link to where I can buy the best for that price please do. Thanks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814143046 most other AGP cards aren't worth upgrading to and you'de be spending money for a very mild performance boost. VERY mild.
x1950pro on AGP is should also be availible, i don't know if its better then the 7800GS though. Make sure you've got a PSU that will be able to handle your new card.
whats wrong with the 6600? I had it and played most games I wanted on good settings for example Call of duty 2 and battlefield 2.
I want better fps for CSS. For some reason I don't get good fps on that. 2.8 processing and 1280mb or ram. So I don't know whats up
are you going to tell us how many fps you get or are we gonna have to guess? the amount of fps goes past graphics cards.. and what processor?
what settings are you using? 40fps is fine for most users.. besides, a new gfx card would only put 1-2fps on that. and 60fps is fine for almost everyone. your eyes can distinguish images at probably 70fps, however your eyes don't necessarily have a frame rate because the images can be distorted.
40 fps is not good but your not going to see a improvement with a better card since the games so much cpu dependent.. make sure your games on dx7 it will increase performance big time i bet
you obviously know nothing.. 40 FPS is average, hardly not good. CSS is only compatible with DX7 and higher and I presume he has the updated drivers for the 6600 so he's already running on DX9 you'll hardly get a performance boost off a new card, css isn't really a pc-raping application..
it's better than the 7800GS by a fair amount. Also, you're about as CPU limited as you are GPU limited http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/displ...9cpu-hl2_3.html Pentium 4s suck at gaming. Who cares if it runs at 2.8GHz if it can't put out as much as a Pentium M at 1.6GHz, or an AMD athlon at 1.6GHz. or a 1.3GHz Core 2 duo. only solution for you is to overclock the bitch. in my case, I'm GPU limited... 7600GT does OK, but not that great. AGP is dying and your CPU and motherboard are in the same boat. DDR1 and AGP are no longer being developed for and intel has dropped support for Pentium4s and Pentium Ds, they're out of development because they're not cost effective and don't perform well.
nah anything above 60 is good or else you start to see the lower frame rate.. and im talking about in game dx7 not the drivers you can change in game dx
Actually I think I will just pay for faster internet could use that more btw is it worth overclocking if so how do I go about doing that?
I have an ATI X1300 --- with 256MB GDDR2 and 128MB Memory Interface in my Dell Dimension 8300 with 512MB DDR 400 and if I upgraded my memory to 1GB then my computer would be able to run games great. It even managed to run Quake 4/Prey at the Maximum settings! Which, in my opinion, is a really good result for only spending $120. The really funny thing is that when I ordered it I had no idea what I was looking for or what PCI Express and AGP slots were. I just lucked out and ordered the right thing, but now I know SO MUCH MORE then I did back then. You just have to be sure to keep it cool. I would highly suggest this card if you're on a $140 budget.
