what are you comparing them to? a ----ing super computer? you said you'd go amd rather than intel but amd don't currently have a chip on the market that can touch a c2d.

.. 939 maybe be "out of date", but it still works. Only difference between 939 and AM2 is the support for DDR2 RAM. So, if he goes C2D or AM2, he'll need to drop another ~$115 (1GB) or ~$240 (2GB) on that as well. An Opteron 165, G80 card, and 1-2GB of DDR-400 RAM would be fine for just about everything. Sure, he won't be getting less then 25 seconds on Super Pi, but in reality, who gives a sh--?

So my suggestion, get the Opteron 165, and get a 7600GT now. In around 3 months, or when the 8600Ultra releases, use eVGA's step-up program, trade in the 7600GT and pay the difference for the Ultra.
That should last you long enough for a more complete overhaul in around a year, maybe more.

No im not wrong i just find it pointless to get a opy with 939 and and a 8800 which probably will bottleneck with it anyway.. and in 3 months he probably could save up that much to get a new mobo ram and cpu. but if he really wants to get the stuff right now than fine get it but you might regret it later

Thanks to all.. But i now got $434.00

Got paid, and found more cash.. But now my parents are talking about a new PC. The PC wont be for my self, it will be my moms and mine.

She agreed, that I can make it Gaming PC/Home Office PC for her.. So now I'm looking into CyberPowerPC and ibuypower for a nice system. But then i thought, she dont know those company and probably wouldn't buy them..

So, now I'm looking into Dell XPS and some others..

    Know any good others??

~But that means I still got my Gaming Pc (PC NOW) To build onto.. So I just might get x2 4800.. and the 8800GTS..

and who ever the F**** said that the x2 4800 will bottleneck the G80.. GO F ur self.. ur just dumb and probably 5..

Wait, so you're going to build a Gaming/Office Computer for your mom, and you're going to upgrade your computer to "gaming status"? Why don't you just ask your mom if she can get a good Office Computer, and she helps you a little (with cash) on upgrading your computer more extensively.

Thought of that, but that wont happen. So I just talked to her, and she said i can custom a Work/Game PC..

And she can keep her deal... That means.. The Machine is all mine.

See, theres more to it.. I got a dad too, Divorced since I was 7. I see him every weekend, hes IT boss.. but hes cheap.. wont help me. I barely get any money from him.. So i can BARELY upgrade PC.

If I get a new PC and leave my existing PC up there all the time, he'll start asking questions... then you know ETC ETC ETC :(

Here is the PC i made... My mom (MIGHT) buy for me, cuz she knows my dad is a jerk, and she knows I need a new PC for at least 3 yrs now..

    All right, lets see..
The E'6600 is a good choice.
Do you need 2 cd/dvd drives?
    for hard drive, choose:
"Extreme Performance (RAID-0) with 2 Identical Hard Drives" and then choose 500GB

change PSU to "**Recommended** Thermaltake ToughPower 750 Watt Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready"

    change to 1 8800GTX

    change memory to:
    "(Req.DDR2 MainBoard)2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory"
and change choose XMS2, not Value Select.

listing what i said as changes, im at $2106.00
