11 hrs? That isn't too bad.. I'll just start it before going to sleep, on a school night. xD

But 2gb would usually take me 5-6 hrs..

    again, it isn't YOUR connection

it's where you're getting it from.

I notice no real world diference ebtween my mothers 8000kb/s conenction and my dad's 768kb/s connection even when gaming.

xelink, ya kidding me? Theres a 7232kb/s difference between your parents' connections and you cant see much difference? I mean, most games display the ping ingame, wouldnt you notice the difference if you tried both connections on the same server etc.?

if you receive data from the site you want it from at 200kb/s I don't think it matters.

and the ping on both were insignificant, between 4-14ms depending on the server ON THE OTHER END.

most people overrate the importance of a fast net connection. It's vital if you're running a buisiness or have a lot of people in a single residency. For the average person the diference is rather small.

it's like trying to toss a peble into a trash can two feet away, size isn't an issue. If you increase the size of the trassh can to that of the grandcanyon, the peble will not fall any faster.

ever hear the phrase - "you're only as fast as your slowest component" ?
that applies very much to computing and this includes the internet, if you're onyl receiving 100mb/s having a 100,000mb/s connection won't speed it up anymore.

You're talking about a older version, isn't it? v2.8 is about 2.5gb size. I download at 0.5mb/sec, took me 1.5hour, or something near that.

While you are correct it does make a difference in some / most cases depending on what your doing:

IE: If you already maxing out the server on the other end, for say a game, you wont do much better. However, if you are downloading off a server, you most likely are not maxing it, which means you will get more use out of the higher bandwidth connection.
