I hope the people that download vista realise how long the DL will take with average DSL connections before they DL it.
it's a lot to me as well, but I'm sure M$ can afford good servers to send us the OS. at 1mb/s that's not all that long of a download, 40mins.
13$ a month gets you 3/4ths of that. still under an hour. tht's about the cheapest you can go, period. Dialup is only like $3 less. contrary to popular beleif, in majority of cases, your net connection is not limited by the bandwidth on your end, it's limited by the connection at the other end. I cna game as well on my dad's $13 a month DSL connection as I can on my moms $60 a month DSL connection
If MS managed with the downloads for Beta 1, 2 RC1 and 2 I think they can handle this. Although I read an interview with one of the guys responsible for looking after the downloads of Vista Betas and RC's and he said that if they increased the bandwidth on the servers they might "break the internet"...Yep he actually said that
well if one company can break the internet my money is on MS lol. i mean seriously so you start the download before you go to sleep odds are when you wake up it will be done (unless your on 56k, but those on 56k should realize that it would take FOREVER and not even bother)
I can tell you windows vista is 2.5gb from sources 56Kbps = 4 Days 10 Hours 31 Minutes 256Kbps = 23 Hours 18 Minutes 512Kbps = 11 Hour 39 minutes 2Mpbs = 2 Hours 54 Minutes Arbiter
