K, I have a broken iPod sitting next to me. its beyond repair, and i might be able to use it. my question is: 1. can i take out the hard drive and use it by itself ? 2. If so, how? i have it open in front of me, and im not sure if it will work because of the ribbon cables. but if i take out the mobo too and disconnect the screen and battery i think it may work.
I've never seen a iPod HD before. Does it look like a laptop HD? If you can find a picture of it on the net or take a picture of it and post it here. We can tell you if you can use it. We need to see the pin config.
umm apple do repairs, even if it is out of warranty. you wont be able to use the hard drive as it is ruined, that is why you cant use your ipod... either go and buy a new harddrive and replace it yourself or get apple to do it. i forget what they charge though but it is reasonable,.
how do you know it's the harddrive which ruined the ipod? it could be the screen, buttons, power adapter, planterboard, SPU and other various things.
no, its the screenand battery that got messed up. i bought a new creative labs ZVM and i use that now. i just want to use the HD from my old ipod
Just to maybe help, I googled a 30gb Ipod battery and came up with these Not sure if they are actually that but that's what i got
It is very far beyond repair, I'll get some pictures of it in a minute. Merged Post: -------------------------------------------- Insides -------------------------------------------- You can see on the first picture where the wires split apart. The other pictures are the connector on the Hard Drive.
