Im making a magazine cover in PS CS2, And i opened up a defult A4 canvas on PS and its HUGE, i then inserted selections of high res images and saw that on this canvas they appear very small.

Wheras on MS Word (A4 Sheet) the same picture is very large. I checked in PS and saw my canvas had same dimensions but resolution was at 300 Pixels/Inch , I then made a new canvas and found it much easier to work on as, the images fitted correctly as they did on the MS Word sheet, realising this canvas was at 72 p/inch.

Should i keep the res at 72, or crank it higher for better quality, because the prodution is made to fit onto only A4.

    Thanks :D

Agreed, you should keep it at 72. Unless you can find images with a very very High res to use.

If you're going to print it then 300dpi is essential.

Yea i will print it, I found that the 72 res A4 canvas is not amazingly big to work with, and i have large enough wallpapers to work on it, But i found 300 is fairly hard to work with, For best quality would i need to pump it up to somewhere half between 72-300 for good quality or would 72 be sutible for printing?

    Thanks

if you are going to print it the best thing to do is put it at 300dpi resolution.
