To everybody already putting down the iPhone:
Have you ever actually tried to use one of today's smartphones? I have; I used to own a Blackberry, and I see where Steve's coming from when he attacks their usability and features. I got rid of the thing because its' internet browser is far less than stellar, my POP3 email didn't work right half the time, and there was no room for expansion as far as adding features/applications/updates/etc. It just wasn't worth the $100-$200 I was paying every month for the services.

From what I've seen, the iPhone addressess all of these issues, plus you've got an iPod. Yeah, it's expensive. That's because of the Apple logo on the back. As Mac users, we're USED to paying more for stuff because we know our stuff is BETTER. Undoubtedly, you get what you pay for when it comes to technology.

I think the iPhone is a gorgeous and brilliant invention. It just goes above and beyond everything else out there. With everything right down to the ambient light sensor. When it comes out, I will not have a problem shelling out $600 and dropping Sprint in favor of Cingular. It's just what I, as a former smartphone user, have been looking for.

Seems to me like apple have made their own pda/blackberry, made the case shiney, stuck a huge price tag on it and pretended it's a new product.

Same thing that happens with every apple product.

^Plus, it actually works properly and offers features no other smartphone has offered up to this point. You forgot to mention that.

Plus it costs me money that I can't be assed to spend and to be quite blunt I really don't feel the need for a camera, mp3 player, internet access, and a kitchen sink on my cell phone. Kthxbai.

Name 3. Proper features. And by proper, I mean not "The menus are easy to browse" or "MAED BY APPEL LOLZ?"

Is that some kind of a dare?
    Well, okay.

    1. Touch sensitivity involving no stylus. A great idea, as anyone who's used a pda/stylus-supported smartphone will tell you.
    2. An actual iPod inside. And not that fake stuff the ROKR offered up (that was a disaster on Apple's part). A real one. That'll sync with iTunes, play videos, support 4 or 8 actual gigs of stuff, the works.
    3. A full-featured web browser. This one excites me more than any of the others, because being a former Blackberry user, I know what Steve was talking about when he called the apps on other phones "baby apps." From what Jobs demo'd in his keynote, what with the zooming and everything, this looks like it could actually be a FULLY FEATURED WEB BROWSER. I hope I'm not wrong on this more than anything else.

You're not going to buy one anyway because you hate Apple, but do you want me to go on? I don't really feel the RESPONSIBILITY to defend them; just saying why I, PERSONALLY will buy one.

only plus in this phone frommy point of view is the fact its a touch screen i beleive, all the other "special" features are already available on my phone or would be useless or rarely used.
