I finally got a 64-bit PC, and I am running a 32-bit version of windows...I was wondering what the benefits of upgrading to a 64b version would be...if there are any, it seems to me that it would just make me feel better because windows would be using my processor to its fullest potential...any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
well it utilizes memory better, um programs seem to load quicker, its based off of windows 2003 personally i like it a lot better then the 32bit version im running XP P R O 64bit
Thanks for the input...I am definitely considering it, but I don't know yet....you have heard of the express vista upgrade right? would you happen to know if they ship a 64-bit version if you register with XP Home 32?
not sure... i dont plan on going to vista for a while (2-3 months so there are no chances for driver instabilty, plus im broke)
haha, I am definitely broke too, but since I bought my computer just recently I get a FREE express upgrade...I am actually really happy, cuz I am a cheap ass, and I don't like to pay for software....(you didn't hear me say that) o yea, and what is the best possible way to earn Rep points?
unless you were an idiot and jumped on the prescott bandwagon, every PC in the last 3 years was 64bit capable. windows XP --- x64 offers the following advantages- based on win server 2003(same as vista) more efficient use fo memory than other OSes increased page filing options mild performance increase can adress more RAM more effectively cons- driver support isn't as good as normal XP not every program works properly no 16bit programs. and that is about it. It isn't worth paying extra money for, but it's not a bad OS.
