I think thats only for Enterprise. And what would prob be better, stick with my Media Center XP or get Vista for gaming, and what do you mean upgrade, like how would I do that?
they'de have to pay me to take that DRM infested, resource intensive, innefficient crap. it's built on windows 2003, WHY CAN'T IT BE AS GOOD AS A $ YEAR OLD OS? DirectX 10, big F'ing wow, google XSoS... Merged Post: gaming will be worse on vista as drivers aren't as good as on XP. and by upgrade they mean, you give up your XP OS and you can downgrade to a less efficient OS.
More like "Vista! The new hardware hog, making your computer costs go up 15%!!!" XP + Vista skin > Vista I'm sure Microsoft will eventually make a DX10 patch for XP.
Do you have 400 USD to spend on a new video card? No? Then stick with XP, if you do, then by all means, go for it, but I suggest: Intel Pentium D 905/AMD Athlon x2 3800+ or higher 1.5gb PC2-6400 ram/1.5gb PC-3200 ram nVidia 8 series/ATI R800 DirectX10-compatible video card 550W PSU with dual 12v+ rails (decent quailty, sorry dell dumbasses) Yeeeuuuppp, thats what it'll cost to run a system smooth on vista.
actually, you can use a really ----ty GFX card, you just wont' be gaming. DX10c ard are nice, but aren't required for Vista. 1Gb for a decent experience is though. as would an AMP set up, be it dual processor or dual core.
Is the upgrade cost the same if you have one of those upgrade discount / coupon things? I have one that came with my OS when i build my computer, its for business version.
That's a good question, you would have to look more into the Offer information. Probably, seems like a good marketing scam.. To think, you buy XP you get a BIGGER discount of Vista, but in the end its probably the same as the "Upgrade" version of vista.
