Problem With My Sound (might Be Card)

    computer specs (yes this is fairly old we concluded that last time)

    my problem is this, i can hear music and videos fine but only when they play in Itunes or WMP. When I'm in IE or Firefox i can not hear sound of any sort and i also dont hear the start up or shutdown sound (for windows) i would just buy a new card but the problem is I'm low on money at this time so i cant do that right now. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

    try updating drivers?
