Firstly, I'm sure no one here actually hates Bill Gates. Judging by some of the posts it looks like most don't really know that much about him (especially those of you that are under the misconception that he single handly wrote Windows and thus rescued us from some sort of horrific computer dark age). I think most people claim to hate Bill Gates (on forums at least) because he is a figurehead for Microsoft, so perhaps the question should be: "Why does everyone hate Microsoft?" or more appropriately: "Why doesn't everyone hate Microsoft?" Xelink: Third party support in both Unix and Linux is actually very good. I think it will be about another half year before conroe support is 'fullproof' though.
Why would I hate Bill Gates? He hasn't done anything wrong imo. The technology wouldnt have been so far without him. And i'm pretty happy with windows.
Hating Bill Gates because he left a few features out of Windows is like me hating GR because I don't like the way a few things are done. Hating Bill Gates because he made his money and is one of the richest men in the world isn't hate, it's envy, whether some will admit it or not. He worked for the money he has. Whether he worked in the way that, say, I have worked for most of my life to get that money doesn't matter. He still worked for it, and that's no reason to hate him. He's a decent man from what I can make of his actions (though I don't know him personally). He doesn't deserve the hate of millions that don't even know him. It's quite admirable to a large percentage of his income into AIDS research and other programs.
Why I hate Bill Gates: He made the computer before I had the chance to build a time machine, teleport to the 60s and put my name on the computer Actually, I love Bill Gates If it weren't for him, I GARUNTEE this site would not be here I heard the only reason Bill Gates was famous is because he made the minimize, restore, and close bar on the upper right hand corner, or something along those lines
I don't hate him. Personally, I never gave it much thought. I think, though, that the people who flame him outright are forgetting that you need to be pretty damn smart to get where he is. Hate him all you want, but he deserves a token of credit for his achievements.
i havent really heard of many people hating him, but to those who do, its just their opinion, let them be stupid
I agree, using something that someone or something made possible and hating them seems very hipocrit like, if you ask me.
I dont know anyone that hates him.. If anything they should like him because there using windows. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have windows and that would suck.
That's like saying: I don't understand why everyone hates Osama Bin Laden. If it weren't for Osama, we wouldn't have the patriot act and everyone has to endure that. If we didn't have windows, we'de have something else and something else would be better.
Sorry, I tend to subconciously gloss over that aspect. I don't game on my pc and never have done. Obviously if you're a gamer or really serious about graphic design/3D work then Windows is a neccesary evil. Both nvidia and ati seem to keep their graphics drivers linux friendly though. Looking on both of their homepages I can't see a card that isn't supported, but then you'd know more about that than me...
