Boot in safe mode by pressing F8 most way... Do a virus scan there an both ad-aware and hijack this. I guess the anti virus is saying its still infected? If so, copy the name and search on it for google on a fix.

That's not true, but mostly a virus will just destroy so much things, it's not worth fixing it or it will just remove the virus and you'll still have problems which the virus has caused, like it doesn't want to load OS software.

Sometimes you don't know even if a file contains a virus, there are so many different ways to hide a virus in a application, image or mp3...

Download Ad-Aware, they will most likely find all your spyware.

Restart the computer in safe mode with networking, update spybot and adaware. And do seperate scans for both. Just do quick scans. After that, delete anything it finds, then go to start>run>msconfig, then disable any programs you aren't really using or looks suspicious. Thats what I did when I had spyware.

Alright, here is what I do for my system clean-up, my comp stays clean, really clean... so here:

    Programs you need:

    Ad-Aware SE -----
    Error Killer
    Tune-Up Utilities 2006
    Your Anti-Virus Software(Make sure it isn't Norton)
    Registry Mechanic
    Diskeeper

    What to do:

    1. Update Error Killer, Ad-Aware, Your Virus Soft, Tune-Up Utilities, and Registry Mechanic to their latest definition.

    2. Do a full scan with Ad-Aware, delete and quarantine, the spyware that pops up in the results.

    3. Do a full scan with Registry Mechanic and Repair all registry problems.

    4. Do a full virus-scan, repair all problems that pop up in results.

    5. Do a full scan with Error Killer and repair all problems.

    6. Defrag your HDD with Diskeeper and pad the HDD.

    7. Lastly, run 1-Click Maintenance with Tune Utilities.

Also, get all the updates from WIndows Updates.
