Artistic expression is one thing, but if you're going to post something that is very misinformed and follows ridiculous stereotypes you should probably be prepared to face the consequences. Not to mention some of the lines really have no artistic merit. I mean "Self indulgent pricks are they" , "
Faultered ignorance paints your portrait" that one is just ironic. "Kill yourself and wither away
grab that knife and cut deep
Do not hesitate just do it I say "

Artistic expression does not give you a license to be misinformed or cruel to others.

Your First Amendment Rights do not protect you if your statements are obscene nor does it protect you if your artistic piece slanders/libels. Besides the fact that this is a private forum thus you're subjected to our rules and thus your First Amendment does not apply.

I know i'm not the person to give my opinion in this thread but imo people should be able to give their opinions, It's a free world isn't it? People get -repped for giving their opinions. He does give arguments for his words and if you don't agree with the arguments, everyone has different thoughts right? You can't agree with everyone always, it's freedom of speech. If neg repping is allowed when someone states up a thought and gives arguments, than the admins should disallow Freedom of speech in this forum.

Definitions are important. You cant say "Im kinda emo" then "im not emo because im not like that"

In poetry the definition is up to the writer.... not the reader. You are however allowed to interpret however you want.... but opinions are not facts.

In his poem I chose to define "emo" as the kid seeking attention on internet forums complaining about his life.... but in reality he has a good family, well off, and is just seeking attention.

I feel the -rep isnt justified. If he was racist thats one thing.... but he expressed an opinion on a definitionless class of people.... emo = emotional.

People get -rep'd for giving opinions with no factual basis for their statements. Hiding behind "It's just my opinion" is a crutch and is no excuse for being ignorant, cruel, discriminatory. As far as his arguments he does not give an basis for his opinion it is all conjecture and thus holds little to no value.

First of all, I'm Canadian and am not in America. Second this really has nothing to do with whether or not I am American, the fact is you could not come up with a valid counter to what I said so you turned to derogatory and immature name calling. With that said I believe you really don't know what a communist is (and if you're looking for where I stand politically it would likely be Liberal (Canadian Liberal not what American's perceive as a Liberal- look it up)). Communism really doesn't seek to take away liberties of people (look at your democracy it's doing a good job of taking away liberties), what removes liberties is the rule of dictators who do nothing but try to hold onto power.

A person doesnt require a basis for a poem. His work should be that.... his work. Interpreted by you but understood completely by him. He shouldnt have to defend his work if someone "emo" or "not really emo" however they feel like labeling themselves today takes it offensive.

Emo is definitionless at this time. His definition and anyone elses definition will never be completely the same. How can you punish someone for hating on a definitionless class of people.

The negative rep should be removed by my arguement alone imo.
