Hola. So I'm using one of the tutorials on this forum from one of the sticky's that's in the tutorial section made by member Gurly. And I'm stuck on this one part of the instructions. Here's the link to the tutorial page. At about the 7th example box down when it's telling me to make a few adjustment layers, I get lost. I do everything right, but the thing that gets me is when it tells me to erase some parts from the black and white gradient. I'm trying to use my erase tool and everything seems like it's supposed to be working, but the black and white gradient layers aren't erasing anything. Doesn't seem linking and unlinking the layers have anything to do with it. Everything has an "eye" icon on it, so I can see what's happening. Still, the layers just won't erase. Not to mention I don't know if the instructions want me to make a gradient fill or gradient map. Regardless, they won't erase. Can you guys help me out?

To erase things like gradient maps you need to brush over it in black and use a white brush if you want to bring bits back.

Wait, I still don't get it. How would me brushing over the black and white gradient in black help me when I go to erase it? Wouldn't I just be erasing the black that's already over the gradient and end up with what I started with?

There's not much too explain like I said, if you are on the gradient map layer and brush black on a part of it, it will remove the gradient map from where you brushed. Brushing in black there would have the exact same effect that an eraser has on normal layers. Just try it and you will see.

If you don't understand a tutorial, ask the person who made the tutorial.. or just avoid using that tutorial and move on to something more ... easier.

Eh, I don't like giving up on things so easily. By the way, it worked.

The best idea is to email/etc. the person who made it.

One last question. In the tutorial on the final instruction before adding text where it says add a new adjustment layer with the substep instruction "A gradient from the section, 'Pale' on soft light". Now I know how to add a gradient map and put it on soft light. I have no idea what this "pale" thing is though. Can you guys help me out? I would have pm'd the person who made the tutorial, but that member hasn't been active in almost a month. I'll do that if you guys can't figure it out. Thanks.
