Hello i woke up today after installing some new ram yesterday, I upgraded from 512mb ram to 1.25gb ram. It was working fine last night and my CPU was running at 3.00Ghz fine. I turned on my pc and it seemed fine..but when i went to check my CPU and RAM i only had 1.50ghz CPU and 768mb ram. CPUz tells me the core speed is 1.50ghz but says the ram is 1280mb ram so can anyone please tell me whats going on?

Heres whats happening: you have something called intel speedstep enabled that reduced the host multiplier when your not using your computer as much (idle). Thats why the multiplier is 15. It would be higher otherwise.

As for your memory, I think that only displays how much memory is available for use, not considering the amount that windows is using.

first guess is IST on the CPU which notches the multiplier down and the voltage when the CPU is idle. Run orthos or prime and se if th frequency goes up.

as for RAM, either bad stick and/or random windows quirk

Ignore system properties, usually has bugs in it.
You might have a bad stick or system properties is just wrong, CPU-Z is nearly always right so I'd stick to that.

what ram are you using to get 1.25gb

    either 2 X 512 + 1 X 256

    or

    1 X 1024 + 1 X 256

i would suggest just either going 1GB with dual channel or if you do have 1GB the 256 just buy another 1gb and run 2GB dual channel.
