im having second doubts if the hsf is right for my computer.... link to fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835118115 im using giga 965p motherboard core2duo antec p180 case any opinions
If you're not using the DS4 or DQ6, which has the heatpipe, I think it'll fit. The heatpipe will block the HSF as it's really big, I've got in my 'old' Pentium4. If you really want to be sure, I can recommand the Arctic Freezer 7 ---, it's AWSOME bang/buck. Cools EASILY my 3ghz E6400. I hope this helped.
I have the DS3 and E6300, the bargain versions yes, but thanks to this cooler - http://scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp...roductID=480705 I get 3.25ghz out of a proccy that is stock @ 1.88ghz
9700LED is way overpriced, you can get the same result, maybe evne better with a arctic freezer 7 ---...
I'm not sure how good the Artic Freezer is, so I won't comment on it. I own a Scythe Ninja, which is basicly a $50 Infinity, but a little bit smaller. It keeps my temperatures at around 40C idle and load (that is including when I overclocked from 2.13 to 2.9.) Also, it is very quiet. It is a little bit big, but I don't mind as I don't mess with things near my processor that much.
thanks for the help. yea im using a ds3 motherboard. had second thoughts when i got my 7700 hsf yesterday and i read the back - intel pentium 4 LGA 775: supports all speed. then i read someone used it in their core2duo setup...
That doesn't say anything.. believe me it'll work, but you have to remove the whole motherboard, screw a backplate on it and then you gotta reseat it. Artic Freezer 7, you can just click it on and believe me, it only took me 15seconds, instead of the 15minutes on the box cooler... I wanted to order a Ninja/Tuniq to, but when I looked at the weights and prices, I decided the Freezer was the best for me.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16835186134R Still, if you want something better then that/avg user needs. The Ninja will probably do better. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article285-page5.html
Core2Duo are LGA 775 if thats what you were saying Unless i missed the plot anyways ... When i bought my goldenOrbII like last year I had to take the backplates off to fix it in - it doesnt take too long and its working like a charm - Rather than rushing better to take your time with these things i think i am going to get the 9500 - BUt reading this thread with great interest - New ones looking into is the Ninja DarkStar
