Ok well today my mum turns the computer on to look at her emails and for some reason the browser froze on her which then froze the whole computer, she turned the computer off by the wall (plug socket) and restarts the computer, when it came back on none of the icons were showing up, not even the bar at the bottom.

I get up and she tells me what had happened, so i try to see what the problem is but nothing is showing up and i dont know what is wrong with it. I have been trying for about an hour but it just wont do anything.

Everything was fine last night as i was on it, but for some reason it has just decided to go all ----ed up, this is a pretty new computer so it shouldnt have anything wrong with it.

I have had to swap the towers for my old one which i am currently using.

Does anyone know what is wrong with it? I will be taking it to a guy i know in work who fixes and builds computers, but before i do i would like to see if any of you guys can help me first.

    Thank you :)

Put in the Windows Disc and using the boot menu, its F11 for me, find boot from disc.

Then you can format drives ;)

That isn't your problem. When your mom unplugged the computer, it corrupted the explorer.exe file (the windows file that manages the toolbar, the icons, the windows, etc.) Give me a second and I'll try and reply with an easy to do fix.

All right. My way of fixing it would be this:
    1) Upon bootup of your computer, insert your Windows disc.
    2) If your computer decides to boot Windows XP, then you will have to reboot, go into BIOS -> Find something like "Advanced BIOS Settings" -> Find "Boot Sequence" or "Boot Order" -> Use the +/- keys to put your CD Drive above your Hard Drive.
    3) Let the disc do all of its loading stuff (might take like 3-5mins.)
    4) When it gives you a menu, select 'r' for System Repair.

After that, it should do basically everything for you, or at least it does for me. If you have any problems, feel free to ask.
