Flying Cars aka Floating Cars as our promising transportations??

This has kept emerging in my mind, when we will see our lives involved with a kind of transportation--floating cars?

I think our world will benefit from having flying cars replacing traditional cars as our main transportations. To make "flying cars" as our main transportations, we will have fewer issues on traffics, which is good to me. However, those workers who build roads and such will have to design many orbitals in our air for making some tracks that where our flying cars will be flying by.

I wish to see the thing in Fifth Element movie to our world. having flying cars around our lives will be a huge improvement among human world. One thing that can be very scary is that if there is a car accident, the flying cars will fell down to the floor, and this will lead to more accidents as ther are more flying cars driving under the track where the accident happens.

What's your point and how do you solve this type f issue?

I think for traffic to improve we need more/better public transportation. Like here in Southern California, traffic can be terrible. I think we need things like trains or something like that.

If it was better for the enviornment, then I'm all for it. People still like the cars we use today, so it's going to be a while before even electric cars become popular. But as gas prices rise, people will learn to think about change. Flying cars would be kind of scary, just because things may go wrong, but hovering cars wouldn't be that bad.

dude, you are actually posting a thread asking us what we think the best way to prevent flying cars that make an accident which will hopefuly be available A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW from hitting other cars which are also flying on their way down.

A few flying cars have already been made I believe but I don't think we will be using them anytime in the near future. The main reason being all the new laws that will need to be made and what would replace things like traffic lights and all the signs. Like other people said there would be a lot more accidents you would assume and...what if you run out of petrol :P

By 2050 the world's population is likely to have almost doubled. Meaning there will be ablmost 15 billion people. By this time we will have accomplished habitation of the moon (which is already in effect). Miniature helicopters are currently the 'new car' and every person of legal limit, is supposedly going to have one by 2040. If the flying car were invented at this moment, it would cost into the millions just to buy it. That with insurance and gas, would cost a fortune. Not to mention the driving schooling you would need in order to be able to operate one. With the ability to now direct sound waves, heat waves, and light waves. I beleive that soon enough it may be possible to direct plasma waves. Resulting in 'alien pistols'. Not until this is made possible, would I think we would be able to come up with an affordable, environment friendly, personal transportation vehicle. When that was made it would take atleast another 50 years until the general public had it.
