Okay, I've seen about 10+ Dr. Phil Episodes, and after one of the more recent one's I think I will stop watching it.

It was about Media and how it impacts people. This episode, started off with a well known DVD Series named: Bum Fights. It's where the owner of the series pays the homeless to do quite stupid things. One of the examples given were "20$ for a man to eat a Raw Frog". It showed some more clips more they were more of the violent ones. That's not my problem though, what is is that he told the man to leave after the introductory movie.

And at that exact moment I thought to myself, "Publicity Stunt?"

And next he attacked the Model Industry, more or less saying they cause anorexia. And the man who was there to defend the industry did it valiantly. He said that models on the run way aren't supposed to be liked for their physical appearance, but the clothes they wear and how the designer makes them.
Still Dr. Phil pressed on bringing in more and more people to support his side. He only brought in One opposing person, and I personally thought it was BS.

I just more or less want to discuss how you folks picture Dr. Phil.

    Discuss!

Dr. Phil is a little -------. He brings people into his show and "help" them by bringing them into national television to be broadcasted all over the world. He THINKS hes helping them by probably repeating the same things they've heard before over and over. All he does is makes the people feel worse. He's just in it for the money, he doesn't give a ---- about anybody's life but his and how much money he has in it. This is just my opinion though, people may think different.

Regardless of whether you like Dr Phil or not, I do think that the media as a whole puts a hell of a lot of pressure, conciously or subciously onto young people. Image today is everything. People feel like they must have the latest footwear fashion, latest clothing, latest mobile phone, pimped out ride, latest game console or game, the latest craze/gimic, can't be fat. People are made to feel uncomfortable within their own bodies because they don't conform to the media standard of "beautiful".

Young girls do look at models/actresses/singers, anyone in the media spotlight, and mimic them. I think that the media is responsible for a great deal of societies problems, where hardly anything is considered taboo anymore and morals have been replaced with shock value TV.

Going out, taking drugs, drinking alcohol and partying are all labelled "cool" things to do, whereas kids and young people who dedicate their time to looking after animals, the elderly, the disabled and the environment are largely ridiculed and labelled as geeks - yet they are doing something productive to society.

Some of Dr Phils shows I find a bit boring, a bit preachy and sometimes hard to swallow but, I do think people should focus more on the message than on the messenger.

He does give away a fair bit of money to help these people he brings onto his show, I'll give him that. For those of you who have actually been to a shrink it's pretty much what they do. They NEED to make you understand you have a problem before it can go any further (First step is admitting you have a problem).

I think most of you underestimate the power the media has over people, take a look at history (Nazi Germany).

    lmfao.

yeah Dr Phil only supports his own side, and he annoys me because he thinks that he is always right, in most cases, he is, but others hes not..

but hell, who am i to judge. ive lived 12 days under 15 years.
