a few clubs colleges look for NHA- national honors society FBLA- future business leaders of america Key club- community service club class club- club for your class (07,08,09...) other minor clubs/extra curricular activities are good too
In the UK to get into Oxford/Cambridge you need to obtain at least 3-4 top grade A-levels (16-18 exams), and course dependent also take extra extension tests. Before you decide a university you should always choose a course, never just goto a university because you know they are good, there are things that another university will be good at, so if you list the course or area you want to do can chuck you some links for UK university's with oxford and Cambridge on. Theres no point saying you think you might do well, to get into one of these unis u must do well. They turn down people with top grades based on interview, previous qualifications, extra curricular activity, personal interviews and references. If you need any help pm me or post here and will watch it, I have seen people go through the process for these uni's and nearly applied myself but didn't get the grades I wanted to in the first year. http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/apply/ Daz
Thank you daz and SB. I will defenitely follow up on some of your advice. Merged Post: I would like to study Political Science and History. I would also like to take Philosophy. I love science but I think I would do better in things to do with history or politics. But I am not the best math person, will this hurt me in trying to get into a such as cambridge or oxford (I have always wanted to go to oxford but I doubt I could afford it and I doubt my grades are good enough)
Not only do you need to have an acceptable GPA (some universities accept if you have over a 3.0 while others I know of go 3.5+ GPA), but you need to take at least the acquired tests, either the ACTs or SATs or both. Also... you have to apply.
im uk and i can tell you cambridge is reeeally hard to get into, its the best uni in uk maybe in europe as well
no clue, lol i lived in Canada all my life and i havent heard of on point system... as far as i know u have to have like 90% average to get into university and then to get into a certain program u need option clases. high school in Canada use a credit system to pass high school u need at least 150 credits and each academic class is worth 5 credit so i have no clue how it works in the states but heck ya what i know
My brother acutally goes to Cambridge in England, so I will ask him for a lot more information later on. It is a very hard school to get in to, I do not know much about the American school ratings I am afraid. Your activites you do is very good, you should make sure you have a wide list on your CV. You need to be one of the top students and willing to work very hard. Cambridge University is also in competition with another top England University called Oxford University if you want to find more about them. If you need more information on the university's google them up and check there websites out. Good luck trying for Cambridge .
I will graudating from high school in 2009 so I assume fall 2009. Thanks mystic zeus. Get back to me when you ask your brother. Thanks
Yep exactly right I live in England and basically Oxford and Cambridge are like 1st and 2nd in whole of ENgland - Not sure about Europe though but it is very very very hard They have solid interviews as well - They want the best and basically want a person who knows his stuff and start asking you essay type questions - I have got many medic friends who have had that kind of interview Best advice - Know your stuff and do as many things as possible as in work experience surrounding the course you going into Also the pts system - I dont know the US system but the UK UCAS system works as follows University is probably called College in US 6th Form/College is probably High School in US So ill be referring to UK terms To get into Cambridge or Oxford depends on how many pts you get whilst at 6th Form doing A Levels A=120 B=100 C=80 D=60 E=40 Max ALevels they accept is 3 - So 3 x 120 = 360pts which is AAA - They will accept you for an interview or reject you simple But then again you are in US so no idea as you are a international student so have to contact the admissions board of the university hm.. I hope it helps - Even a bit What course you want to go into? DarkStar
Thanks. That is another reason I dont know that much about getting into the university because manily I live in the US and I dont know what I have to do to go to a school in the UK. I hope to study political science or history.
