Ok so I was browsing this website that supposedly had serial numbers for programs, and I downloaded some file that I wanted. Like a dumbass, I ran the .exe file and as soon as its done installing I have some bull---- virus program on my computer and an annoying as hell taskbar icon that won't go away. I uninstalled the virus program successfully but the taskbar icon is still there. Not only that but now I get tons of porn popups that come up even when I'm not online. I have run all of my virus scanners: AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and AOL Spyware with no luck. I'll even give whoever fixes this ---- a few of my psds, whatever it takes. Here's a screenshot of the annoying icon http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5299/screenij5.png Please help me!
Diddy im going to send you a private message, i can help you. I have had this done to me before to -.-
ok this is what is known as adware. you don't really have a critical virus called NetWorm-i, what you have is a piece of software which says you have it and then prompts you to buy their product. http://www.precisesecurity.com/adware-spy/aw-networm.htm the power of google. also try AVG antispyware 7.5 http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
I know I don't actually have that virus, but thanks for the link I'll check it out. @Aeolus Thanks man, pm'ing you back
you do have that virus. look at the screen shot you listed. you might have others along with it as well though.
I searched around and came upon a fix and it worked. I didn't actually have the virus, just some bs program telling me I had it. Anyways thanks to all that helped.
run your PC in safemode. Run the virus/spyware scans. If that does not remove the virus get a program called hijackthis. "HijackThis lists the contents of key areas of the Registry and hard drive--areas that are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers." If you post the log on a specialist forum someone will be able to tell you were the virus is and how to get rid of it
or use these helpful websites: http://www.help2go.com/component/detective/ http://www.hijackthis.de/ http://hjt.networktechs.com/ saves you time rather then posting in a topic and waiting for a response.
