*ahem*. What's the point of arguing over which console is going to be more popular? they're the ones that make up the gaming community, so if one is knocked out that isn't great for us.

Sure, MS has the advantage; Many anticipated games are coming out in 07. That doesn't give you the right to shoot down what Sony has been working on for years, though.

the price delta is only 200 buddy

    500-300 and 600-400

    BUT

if you add in all the extras that Microsoft has out that is already standard with a PS3, you are looking at the same price. SO pretty much it down to the games and power, which PS3 wins with the largest game library of any console.

oh yeah, when these huge MMORPG games come out for both consoles, the serious gamers (the ones who buy these consoles) will want the PS3 for is BD games. take for example oblivion. its out on the 360 and its ok but when it gets released for the PS3 you will see the differences. you cant fit the amount of high definition textures on the 360's 9GB disc but you can fit those and much more on the ps3's 54GB BD disc

Newbs will say - The PS3 had more time in development and redevelopment so it's perfected, lol

anyone with half a brain will know that the more time spent developing a console, the more obsolete it will be on launch.
By nVidia's defintion, the PS3 is obsolete.

Sony promises the PS3 as the future, but how can it be if it's GPU is built on a decades old hardware architecture which is no longer even being devloped for?
    ========================
M$ on the otherhand, lisenced ATi to take their next generation R600 architecture and made a chip based on that. The result - even with very ----ty coding, the Xenos GPU seems to be more powerful despite being launched nearly a year before.

and yes people say the xbox had it's problems at launch much liek the PS3, but it's were excuseable - it's GPU was revolutionary. Sony/Nvidia's are not, they're taking an older design, downgrading it(TWICE) and marketting it as groundbreaking. BULL----.

In short bang/$ the xbox 360 wins, it's got a more powerful GPU, more RAM which is allocatable towards video graphics, but a weaker CPU. Most people don't need insane AI. Both systems are relatively close in terms of performance though, it's just disapointing at how badly Sony ----ed up.

I again, will get neither console, I have a PC. And I don't mean a pile of ---- Dell. My system has around 3 times the CPU power and will have around double the GPU power of both consoles.

Kind of figured this would come anyways.

PS3 will be obliterated.. Sony screwed up, badly. In many, many ways.

The console itself is also never what determines sales (or very, very rarely, minus the fanboys). Its generally the game selection, whether your casual or not. The PS3, even with downgraded parts, is still FAR more capable than the Xbox 360, but its up to the game developers to actually utilize everything the PS3 has to offer, which is hard to do since Bluray is fairly new technology, and the components in the computer will require different coding.

The end of this is whether the game developers will choose to use, or not use the PS3s capabilities. In the case of Square Enix (my personal favorite console company), they are considering either switching solely to MS, or doing an early PS release with a follow up release on the Xbox consoles, current and future (such as Final Fantasy games, etc.), which is what mainly, I believe, will be the downfall of the PS3 (developers leaving due to complications, and spending far more for game production, and possibly not even making it up in profits from the sales of the console, and consequently the game).

PS3 is flat out more powerful, and more capable than the 360 or the Wii, off the shelves, and has more bang/buck than the equivelent 360 purchase (which is about $150 more than the PS3). Xbox could end up coming out of this with the best game selection in the end, which will up its sales by a long shot and I am also a fan of, 'you get what you pay for' and you pay for the Xbox internet access, and as always, the only think the Nintendo really has is its innovative features.

Its up in the air, I think if game develoeprs choose to utilize the PS3s capabilities completely then it will oust all sales, but if they dont, and they move to developing for Xbox, it could potentially be the downfall of Sony in the console world.

im just curious though, what is all this power needed for? even better looking games?

imo, there needs to be a stop to graphics (ps3 and xbox are good enough) and start working on a different gaming idea. wii used motion sensors.. ps3 are trying to copy it (even more so from tilt control) but yeah, if ps3 had some awesome thing like that then they got money

As far as the graphics, the GPUs are about the same, as xelink said, as the 360. The main aspect the PS3 that the 360 doesnt is the Bluray capability. Think of highly intensive games... F.E.A.R. maybe... when you go through and you hit a can laying on the ground, it goes moving, its viewable, and the angle varies on which way you approach the can, as does the sound based on the surroundings...

That is all hard drive space. If someone were to use that for an FPMMORPG (First Person Massively Multiplayed Online Role Playing Game), you could combine the actions of what F.E.A.R. brought to us with the aspect of a long amount of game play, etc. etc. Like Hellgate: London on the PS3 would be great (especailyl for people like me who love consoles over computers for FPS)..

For Sony, they made this console capable of focusing on non-casual gamers (which, people how pay f$600 for a console on release without the games are not going to be casual gamers) with time to blow and games to enjoy. Also, the PS3 IS the cheapest Bluray disk reader on the market (and by about $400-600). The capabilities for additional gameplay is just awesome with the PS3.

However, I do agree with the GPU part to it atm. The GPU is more than powerful enough for the time being on both of the consoles, but the GPU will continue to improve with the new technology. When DX10 becomes more traditional, the GPU with Bluray will really shine (next gen, unless PS3 releases an upgraded version with the origional parts specified).

Wow, reading all these posts about "PS3 gonna die".

I don't know why would it die, there's lot's of people who don't care if 360 gets a price cut. The price cut is just going to increase 360's sales but it's not going to lower PS3's sales. Why would it?

I'm a good example on this matter, yeah hearing about 360 price cut makes me want to buy 360 even more, but I have already made my decision getting PS3, the price cut is not going to change my original plan in any way.

I was saving for the Wii or PS3 since I never liked xbox that much but when I heard that the 360 got cut down, I rushed over to the nearest futureshop I could find but I got shot down by some rabid gamers =\ I would still prefer a wii or something but the 360 made a great choice and business move.
