http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061206/us_nm/usa_guns_dc Well, should they (common citizens) be allowed to own guns? Should they be required to know how to use one? Should they not have guns at all? I'd like to hear a few responses about this.
How much crime could possibly exist in a town of 400? Seems like an excuse not to provide and adequate police service.
yeah that size of a town come on there is like no crime over there i think its a scam to make the police officers not do anything and just sit back but seriously 400 people in a town ? jesus there is like 400 in a 4 block radius around me
Guns should be allowed, but not forced. And yes, people should have to know how to use one. In my opinion they should have to pass a test, lol. Idiots shoot people and say stupid crap like, "I thought the safety was on, I was only joking."
If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. That pretty much destroys any argument for people who want strict gun control. By enforcing stricter gun control, innocent civilians cannot protect themselves, and criminals will still have firearms as they never followed the law to begin with. Firearms should be allowed to be owned, but only based on past criminal records and proper training. Retard pasrents also need to learn to keep ammo and gun seperate in locked cabinets.
I don't see the necessity in having a gun to protect yourself, in Canada we have a higher number of guns per capita yet we seem to have much lower gun violence per capita. Even with all the guns we have we don't see the need to have them around in order to feel safe.
I think its more of a situation in Canada that you just feel safer knowing you own a gun, and could use it if the chance presented itself, but you just arent as prone to actually using one. Personally, I am all for home protection via any means necessary. Considering most home burglars, or other night stalkers (rapists, murders, etc.) will always have a weapon on hand, I dont want to go after them with a baseball bat, and I dont want to get any closer to them then I need to. However, I think if you want to buy a gun for protection, you should go through a home safety test, and knowing when to use, and when not to use, a gun, and be legally licensed to use a gun after the training.
I personally think guns are too dangerous to be in the hands of human beings fueled by irrational thought sometimes.
having guns for your own is stupid imo. more deadly conflicts will happen. because its much easier to fire a gun... if you have one.
Just because someone learns how to use a gun and gets a license it doesnt mean that giving him a gun is safe, safe isn't defined by realising that the safety is off when pointing the gun to your face. So he can use it, now what? How would they know what could happen or what he would do with this gun in the future?
I believe they should be allowed to have guns but not be forced to own one. I personally own many guns, 2 shotguns, 2 pistols and 4 rifles. I learned at a very young age how to use them properly, and teach my nephew the same thing. Anytime I have someone coming over, my weapons get locked up, as I do not have kids and it is only my wife and myself in my home. I keep my .45 and my .44 loaded for home protection. If you come to my house expecting to get some free merchandise, think again. I bought my nephew a bb gun for his 8th birthday and he has more common sense (he is almost 9 now) than alot of people I see at the gun range who seem to just want to shoot and not learn. I have taken classes about gun safety, and it is common sense, everyone knows how to be safe with firearms, but the ones who dont care are the ones who end up hurting others or themselves.
I agree with what was said above...guns should be allowed but not forced on people. I have two stories to tell, I had a female tutor that lived in American and where she was from she was the only one that didn't have a firearm and when her neighbours found out they stopped talking to her wouldn't help her with anything, eventuallly she got a gun and magically everyone started talking to her. The second was a tutor i had who lived in Africa, he had a gun for his protection because of the high rate of crime other there..one day someone tried car jacking him, my tutor pointed the gun at the guy and the guy kept coming, my tutor froze and couldnt use the gun. So he got rid of it. Its fine enough saying yes I own a gun and feeling like you have power and that you are in control but when the crunch comes to the crunch if you cant use it then whats the point in owning one.
Now I don't know statistic on this, but how many cases are there of people being saved from an invader by a firearm compared to the amount used in gang violence.
