you could connet the modem directly to the console and it would work except then your computer would not be online. A router is the only way to have your computer and your console online at teh same time.
No, you're wrong. If you got a socket for a cable modem installed near your console, both could be online.
you could do it wirelessly, i suppose, if your modem has wireless capabilities, thats the only way the above will work...
cable modem is just fine, just connect the ethernet cable to your console. here's how the connection would look: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connectt...thods/modem.htm now, if you want to be online with your comp and console at the same time, that's when you need a router
I was able to have my PC and PS2 online at the same time when I had a modem. I connected the modem to my PC, then connected my PC to my PS2 using a crossover cable and shared the connection in windows.
not if you want to connect your computer and console at the same time. well, unless you have multiple ports on your modem...
Yes... Buy a router and connect your modem to the router. Then Connect your PC and your Xbox to the router. Easiest and best way to set it up.
umm, duh back to you? of course you need a modem. what i meant is that most modems have only one ethernet port, so youd have to switch back and forth between your computer and console ethernet cables...
