    Budget: <100 bucks

    (< = less than)

Ok, I need a very small upgrade.

    Specs:
    CPU:AM2 X2 3800
    Case: CM Stacker
    Fans: 2 x 120mm, 1 x 32mm

    1. I need a new fan/heatsink for my cpu. The stock cooler is cooling well, 35C on light load, 40C on full load, but I plan to overclock it very soon, so I want the hs/f to be able to cool better.

    2. I need a fan controller. I can put my system on standby, but for some reason the fans and psu does not turn off. So I was thinking of adding a controller on to manually turn them down. I was looking at the AeroCool Gateway controller, or the Zalman one...

thats the fan for you my friend. i have the 775 version of this fan and its hot. um it looks aluminum/silver but its really copper ;) great fan its quiet but still efficent (on low setting) and can be kinda noisy but SUPER efficent at a high speed.

pair that up with either artic ceramique or artic silver 5 and you are set to go for OCing

and for the fan controller i use this one

comes in black too just look for it :P

there are better fan controllers out there but this one does its job well and i like it

so yea that should about sum it up i dont think anyone can find a better non-water socket AM2 fan than the Zalman one so i hope i helped ya

That AeroCool GateWatch seems pretty nice (Funcionally/Esthetically) and I've actually been looking into getting one myself.

And for a CPUHSF I'd probably get the Tuniq Tower 120:

These two things will bring you slightly over $100 though, and the Tuniq Tower is currently out of stock at NewEgg.

Edit: Just realized doesn't fit your socket.

ROFL... yeah, the gateway is much loaded with functionality, but I dont really need that unless I go to heavy overclocking...

I think the vantec will do nicely, though..

    tuniq tower is awesome...

try finding oen availabel retail within the US though...
good alternative is the Scythe Infinity.

try the scythe Mine though, it's like 35$ and almost as good and just about silent with the stock fan. you can also implement a push/pullsystem with the MINE my adding a fan to the back to pull air if needed.

no clue about a fan controller.

tuniq is very hard to find in North America.

I'd say the Scythe Ninja. It's $7 more then the Scythe Mine, and it has twice as many heatpipes.

Woops. Forgot about that. I guess the Mine would be the next best go for the money. If you want the Ninja, AM-2 users would have to wait for a Rev C.

hehehe just joking bro that sucks.

i still stick by my suggestions, the fan controller at least is exactly what you are looking for. (effective but not fancy)
