idk, im thinking that it looks better just to have p-r-0 and stuff than to have like "highest level" or, "rated highly".

even by filtering the words of nsl, nsl ratings and stuff still arent going to be ignored, next you block "highest level", and then people will just find another substitute for nsl's classes.

You know what? I agree. Lets take the word filter off and put in a new rule like this...

'Any topic in The Marketplace where the topic owner refers to his own piece at any rank will have the auction closed and the piece being sold will no longer be eligible to be sold'.

That would end all your '---' topics or 'highest rank' etc. pretty damn fast, eh?

I do agree with that on paper, but I think it would be harder to enforce. From what I can see, the mods are on here all the time dealing with things, and that would take a lot.

Although, it could probably be handled by the mods if, after the first few days, people started to follow the rule.

if people make something that is really nice and creative people will want to buy it and not because someone puts that NSL rating system or any other BS crap in their description

but whats the problem if we say nsl's ranks? so what if we're not nsl. we should be allowed to say what a site rated us.

    This is all IMO

The problem is, some people are not part of NSL and do not know how NSLs rating system works. Since GR does not hand out ranks, and not all members are expected to know how NSLs rating system works and what level "---" is then GR shouldn't allow people to say thier sig is "---" according to one sites rating.

my point exactly! people buy what they want to, so then theres no point in saying we're not allowed to say --- or anything.

We are GR, and we do not promote ranks, we promote artwork, small or large, and encouraging new designers. Countless times I have seen new designers come in here with sigs I believe to be far superior to the '---' rated signatures at NSL. Not to mention half the ratings at NSL are based on whose friends with who, who can blow the best, and who has the brownest nose.

The selling of artwork shouldn't be based on name, it should be based on how the other person feels about it without anyone elses opinions on it, thats how its done in real life. The only thing the name should have behind it is how much it will sell for, not their actual rank. Many, many people at NSL who aren't rated --- sell their sigs for more here than at NSL. My signatures, for instance, have sold for more than almost any --- designer at NSL.

Also, just because you as a designer are rated '---' at a site doesn't make everything you sell '---'.

The ranks are not needed, and they are not supported by the staff at GR. If you wanna sell a signature based on your rank, do it at NSL or somewhere else, as its not wanted here.

I think what Red Alert is trying to say is people should make their own mind up on what is "---" and the rating of another site shouldn't be factored into someones decision here.

Just to comment on that, The Canadian Art Museum spent upwards of $1.3 Million on a painting that consisted of three lines. It's a huge canvas, but it's three painted lines.

It's one of the simplest painting's I've ever seen.

There is somewhat of an optical illusion behind it, but a lot of people were mad that $1.3 Million was spent on it, I personally think that if you see it in real life it looks pretty neat, but it's not a knowledge of painting that created it, he didn't need to know brush pressure, just uniqueness

Why include the rating in the title in the first place..? Something can be rated ---, but it actually looks like a piece of ----, false advertising, and deception comes from it. I don't see the point..Other than it makes selling things to gullible people a hell of alot easier.

Quit crying about NSL. If you want to use their ratings do it on their site, the log out button can be found directly below the [IMG] button.

    i acutally agree with elektrick
lets face it most ppl are on other sites like NSL and they'll have seen ppl who have been rated somethin
for example when u see name Arisus ppl would know hes ---

so in other words the name sells if ur known as p-r-0 somewhere
and as elektrick said ppl will find ways around the filter

also as for false advertising that can happen no matter what u just use ur common sense
