There's NO way that's accurate... if PS3 shipped around 500K units, this means that only half sold out and I can walk easily into an electronic store, buy a ps3 and sell it on ebay for 1-4K????? Like no.... and people wouldn't have to camp out if that were true <.<
Again, did you read my post? PS3 no longer has Grand Theft Auto rights, along with some other games. If you could get Grand Theft Auto for a cheaper price with the same graphics (Xbox 360) then why wouldn't you? Back then the only competition for the PS2 were the Dreamcast and Gamecube. Dreamcast failed and Gamecube people bought because they had a N64, and like the games. But people saw the cheapish DVD player in the PS2 and bought that. It was already a -------established format, the only successor the VHS tape. (Unlike the Blu Ray player, right now it not established, and the majority of people don't have HD tvs) But the main reason the PS2 did so well was because of its RPGS, Grand Turismo, and GTA. The 360 is taking away some of the RPGS and adding its own now. As before the Xbox was only for people that wanted to play sports games and shooters. It doesn't have Grand Turismo, but last year Forza Motorsport was a good replacement for the gamer that didn't want to get a PS2. It also has taken away the PS3's last crutch, GTA. The thing is neither of the Consoles can touch the Wii, because none of them have the "gimmick" the Wii has.
Actually North america had like barely 400k units. Quality over quantity. 1. So? GTA4? who cares (Glares at Motorstorm, Resistance, white knight story, warhawk and the list goes on...). 2. People didn't buy it because of the DVD player. Blu-Ray is the next format you gotta admit it. Come on, 25 gib's on one layer. Sure, GT, GTA and forza. so those are the reasons why the console sold 120 million units, thanks for the nfo. 3. They didn't take GTA4 away, it's a multi-platform now. 4. Wii has it's own gimmick, but PS3 and 360 have their own gimmicks. No. And one thing may I add. Lot of next-gen multiplatform games get worse reviews on PS3 because all of them are ports from 360 to PS3. 360 does not have cell (which is totally different thing from 360's system), and the developers are too lazy to notice that, so they just port the 360 version to PS3 (And come on people, PS3 just launched, give it some time). Ps3 will surely win. But theres things you need to consider for the moment. Xbox 360...been out longer and has 1 popular game. Wii...Come out recently and has mor original games. Ps3...Hasnt come out in Uk, hasnt been out long anywhere else, loads better games, better graphics, extreme price.
PS3 has one good game so far. The GPU vs. the Xbox isn't much of a difference if anything at all. It's got a ----ty price, and technology that in theory is sweet, but in a system isnt that great. Give it a while till blu-ray is of any use, and how the HD-DVD drive for xbox is seperate - not too bad of an idea. Chances are that DVD drives will get worn out, like what happened with the PS2, and thats only 100 dollars lost not a few hundred
Actually they made it (I don't know how to say this in english) but the point is the laser and diskcompartement is now protected against dust and wich should guarantee a long lifespan for you Blu-ray drive. The fact that you buy the HD-DVD seperately makes that it's only good for watching movies. With integrated Blu-ray developers can add more content, more different languages, very high quality full HD movies and more on a single blu-ray. RPG's could be made to literally last years for example. They can't do that if not everyone has it.

Not everyone got an HD-tv, but I guess most people getting ps3's atm are kinda rich.. at least enough to have some HDTV to use. Not that I'm poor, I got a huge hdtv, I just cant use it to game on. We have them long enough for now, a little longer Ok. But some games are just retarded. People get bored eventually also...
