Source I don't understand how a public "intellectual" like Richard Cohen could write something like that and not get publicly ridiculed. It positively pisses me off, this attitude of "being bad at math is okay since everybody knows Math is Hard" rampant throughout the United States. That's ridiculous. I can't see how people fail algebra seven times. Actually, I can't see how you fail it the first time, as long as you do the work required. Failing, say, calculus is more understandable, since the concepts can be somewhat complicated [I still wouldn't get it, though, since AP Calc AB is supposed to be a snooze class at our school. BC's pretty easy if you do the hw] So... yeah. Cohen's bitter because he's... quite an idiot -_-;; His ignorance is amazing
So are other nationalities somehow smarter? You're basing an entire population's intelligence on the testimonies of a few people who failed high school?
I'm american too... but if we have ignorant dumb people like this, making editorials into a newspaper that is read all over the world, every single day... Then we really are dumb to allow something like this happen. edit: i'm not generalizing the american population, i guess wrong topic title, but we do have a lot of these "stereo typical" dumb americans
You know what, you track down this guy and kick his ass and stop him. We'll back you up. Besides that, I'm thinking that America is in the top 5 countries education wise and there are dumb people everywhere in the world.

Try again buddy, India, China, Japan, Taiwan (not a country though), S. Korea, european countries, America is widely considered to not be the smartest population. But yeah we shouldnt judge america upon a few people. We should judge them on there test scores and the jobs they take
United States is ranked 9th in Education in the world, how does that make Americans stupid? There is 193 Countries in the world, that means we are about 95% smarter than most other Countries. Do you seriously even think? You are saying that Americans are stupid in general. Personally you are the one that falls under that category. Maybe you should do some research next time before you even try to come up with a logical answer. Please go back to school and maybe you might learn something.
Once again do your Research, judge Americans upon the jobs they take? Are you falling under the non-educated group also? I could be as smart as any person in the world and want to open up a Bakery Shop. Does that make me dumber?
