yes, like the thing Sony tried awhile back, with putting spyware on your computer from their music cd's...

bring on vista, we'll bring on the lawsuits...

It will be hard to uninstall, it won't need some os patch and plus windows is helping with it. It will be integrated directly into the cpu and most likely insanely hard to turn off. Who knows? Windows might shut down all windows xp in like 2011 they would have the right to do that I guess. Windows Vista will cost $600 and kick up computer prices surely not only by higher computer requirements but by the vista itself. I myself will personally start learning linux now and I bet linux developers will try to stay away from this as long as possible.

I doubt the computer prices will rise much. look at how much XP costed when it first came out...

Well, look at how easy it is to hack a Xbox, it cant be that hard...

Even if they stop supporting it, you can still run it, just when you have a problem, dont go crying to ms... They stopped supporting Windows 98 and ME, yet you can still get updates...

And if you can create a Linux program that can run Ms software and games flawlessly, I'll personally send you $600

no offense, but you're full of ----.

vista might be overhyped but the standard version is 1.4th the price and uninstalling an operating system is a lot easier than installing one.

And still, there's no thing in our CPU'z which is a sort of keylogger, bull----. There might something be in vista, but there will always be 3rd parties who will tell us what and howto fix that. I'll soon be checking the new windows out. I'll let you know.

Uhh, guys, they aren't going to be like all this craptastic software in the CPU. They will probably just put some kind of encrpyted ID to be able to distinguish one cpu from another (in the cache or I guess a CPUs equivalent to a hard drives MBR.) I'm surprised cpu's dont already have that in there.

This is really the time of CPUs advance in technology, stuff such as this and graphics cards are being worked on being put together. AMD and ATI have already merged and are working together and so on..

The day of online freedom are gone, lets face it.

It makes sence tho, from a businesss perspective its the right move. Software is a big business! If you walked into a best buy, grabbed a game and ran for the door, you'll prob end up getting in some type of trouble, unless you go to the one with all the fat guys. There is no difference whether you took it at the store or online. There will always be a way arround it, its the internet war, its been going on since computers hit mainstream.

I'm a cheap :censored: tho! lol

they'll support XP for quite some time.

an if they don't, who cares, it's just random patches...

Well personally i would be quite upset if this did happen, in the united States some ISP's are all ready doing this kind of stuff (ie if you go to a warez site) they'll send hte information to who ever did it. but going north of the border laws are alot less strict. what i see happening is that microsoft will be sued many times over this and stock prices will drop. im personally thinking of onverting to Mac right now but this might be just enough to push me over the edge. but still if you don't want this stuff to happen then don't sell it. if your going to dig into our privacy we'll sue you. who wins? let ssee big coorporations will if they don't get sued. the oh lets say 40% of computer users who don't exactly follow every law will get spanked and the 60% who do nothing bad will happen.

    here's a solution:
    1) when downloading ur illegal music/videos/pr0n/anything else, use linux/unix
    2) when gaming , use XP, it's not hard to have both installed on a single harddrive

and on a side-note. the government is starting to take taxes on all (money) transactions taking place in games. specificly speaking "Second Life", if u dont know what it is, find out, it's just a matter of time before they tax every little thing u purchase even if it's virtually! i've also heard rumors that Blizzard will eventually tax in such a way in World of warcrack, all procedes to the gov't.
