maya has a free personal learning edition... which if i remember correctly is fully featured, you're just not allowed to make $$ if you used it.

Thanks for sharing that, I'm downloading that now :P

Anyways, well Maya isn't for programming.

Try w3schools.com to start you off.

W3C schools won't get you anwhere - it's for web development information/tutorials (html, javascript, php etc)

If you're a complete beginner, then you're a long way off programming games. Get yourself a 3D program (if you haven't already downloaded Maya then it's here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index...12&id=76395250) and keep going with it. You may find it difficult (3D programs just are really), but stick with it and you'll be fine. You also need to learn to program and improve your general computing knowledge. If you want to do games, then the best thing to start with would be to get the .NET Visual Studio Express IDEs from Microsoft (they're also free): http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/. They are very kind to beginners (esp. VB).

That would be a good flow to do things, just not the .VB Net. It can teach bad habits. I would suggest starting with Java, yes it can be kind of hard for beginners, but it very powerful, portable, and actually easier then such languages as C. For me, I started out at webprogramming (HTML, PHP, JS) and now I'm learning Java.

I wasn't endorsing VB perse; but I won't condemn it either.

I would go for C++ probably, avoiding J# which is essentially a b as t ardised version of Java 1.14

I wanted to go into making games when I was little. For graphics in games you should learn something called DirectX. You should search it on google and find some great tutorials there. When you first start it will be hard but as you play around you will get good.

Sorry I could not tell you to much about DirectX which is graphics in games, because I do not really know to much about it. Good luck with your future of game design though!
