But he was given evidence of there being WMD. I didn't say we have made it better, I said we are trying to. It's one thing to make a country better, it's another to do it while getting shot at...

Interesting topic really....spent numerous hours thinkin about this after college as plenty of my friends went and joined up

I am very happy we decided to start the war on terrorism and secure the freedom of people worldwide. Terrorists are a threat to everything that makes living worhtwhile. There happy to blow parents, husbands/wives, children, friends and family to pieces.

Why i dont know...they must be very immpressionable people who are severly lacking 'something' in the head

Now, i would love to meet anybody who could give a single valid reason for the murder of innocents who have in no way shape or form had an impact on the local community/beliefs/religion.

Yes innocents in Iraq ect have been killed and that is a real shame, but these cowards operate within communities and use the locals as shields so accidental death is inevitable.

Killing opponents to freedom is the only way to preserve freedom, without terrorists there cant't be a terrorist attack.

Freedom is not indefinate, if we all sat back and did nothing, they would waltz into our countries unchecked plotting and killing at will. Is that freedom? Wondering if the next bus ride will be your last?

Also, i do not think Bush is an idiot, nor is Blair. How can standing up for freedom be stupid

May have waffled slightly but im hoping i got my point across

The goverement doesnt give 2 ----s about you, they dont care about you they used your abilites for there own goals. They went in there for economic reasons. How in the world is attacking Iraq, who wasnt even in on 9-11, protecting your freedom? Could Iraq ever attack America? Hell no. They went in there for economic reasons, not to protect freedom? If America sat back and did nuthing, there wouldnt be a reason for the terroirst to attack you. America intfers with everyones politics, destroy there native lands, and take there resources. You wonder why the world hates america.

I think it's great that ppl are killing other ppl, as George Carlin once put it "I find as a form of ENTERTAINMENT, the thought that some one could walk in the middle of a bus station and set off a bomb killing hundreds of ppl excites me." as cruel as that may sound why the ---- not eh?

If you want to bitch about ppl getting killed over in Iraq, the only time someone really gets killed over there is if they attack out troops first. Worst case senario is that some british soldiers beat up some little ----ers that huck 5-10 pd rocks at them putting their life in danger, and yes kids a 5 pd rock can kill you. I found that video quite amusing too watching some limeys beat the hell out of those kids throwing stones at them. The best part was when one of the soldiers lost it and booted a kid right in the nuts.....

put it this way... you think those soldiers could have walked away? no

do you think they could have gone up to them dodging all the 5 pd rocks and asked them politely to stop? ---- no

With that case the only way to teach those -------s was to kick their ass to show them there are reprocussions to there ignorant actions.

ANOTHER THING, there have been close to 4000 deaths in iraq.... ok look at this, over 12,000 ppl died of starvation cause illegal immigrants have stolen the jobs of thousands and thousands if not millions of american jobs that should have been given to the ppl who have a rightful place here in the US. The Gov't will never listen to you, they will always look at minorities as something to protect cause 1: They can make profits off of it, 2: some believe that the more fortunate should help out those in need (which I could give a ---- less cause in my own country I didn't get help when I was homeless for 2 yrs).

Agreed that the war shouldn't have been started but it would be really ----ty if we pull out just before we get them someone who can run the country and help protect the ppl from what will be coming to them if we just tuck our tails and run now.

Wait another yr or so and the iraq situation will be 80% finished. We have all ready been pulling troops out, and putting less back in everytime. so the number of ppl we actually have there have lessened quite a bit.

AND THE NEXT TIME YOU OR ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS WANT TO SPOUT YOUR MOUTH OUT, JUST BITE YOUR TONGUE CAUSE I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING BUT THAT MAN HAS SEEN ---- YOU WONT SEE IF YOU GO TO HELL IF THERE IS ONE. YEAH HE MADE A ----TY CHOICE ON JOINING THE SERVICE BUT THE FACT IS YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPROUT IGNORANCE AT THE ALL READY IGNORANT.

I have a lot of respect for someone with the bravery to face that ---- everyday to support his family, you should too.

AND YES I STILL THINK WHAT GEORGE CARLIN SAID IS ----ING HILARIOUS.

STOP BEING LIBERALS AND JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT WE NEED TO BE IN IRAQ UNTIL WE HELP THEM GET THEIR OWN POWER BACK INTO OFFICE.

    DEATH TO LIBERALS

Whose land have we destroyed, an whose resources have we stolen? An you can't say that only America interferes with everyone else's politics, because everyone is in everyone else's business. An if you knew anything about the UN charter, its states that we should help each other in our time of need, to help prevent more Civil and World Wars from occurring...which is what we are doing. If Iraq doesn't get its government situation straightened out, they could be looking at a possible Civil War. Thats enough ranting from me for one day :/

Did you also know that we, in combination with the Israelis, eat small children every full moon or so? It's true. Ask the Palestinians.[/sarcasm]

One of these days, I'm just going to pull the plug on my internet connection. I feel it's making me more stupid each and every day.

I'm going to break it down for you:
    - If they don't "give two ----s" about me and I'm simply working for "their" goals, why exactly am I sitting here? Shouldn't I be in a field somewhere, working until I die?

    - If we went in for economic reasons, why is our economy ---- right now? Why am I paying around two dollars/gallon for gas still? Shouldn't I be paying something like .02 cents/gallon, seeing as we obviously took over Iraq for the oil?

    - Where exactly did ANYONE say that the Iraqis had a hand in 9-11? Saddam was a threat, pure and simple. Didn't you get the memo about him knocking off the Kurds up north, the minority in the South, and the tons of Iranians his forces gassed in their little war? How about two wars of agression (Iran, Kuwait-Saudi Arabia [he went over and had a bit of fun at al-Kafji, effectively an invasion])? How about letting al-Qaeda train up north under the watchful eye of his interior minister? What about the large chemical weapons stockpile he had (you know, fun stuff like Sarin)?

    - Iraq could attack America if it wanted to. Whether it would succeed is another story, but it could attack the US or its interests with ease. Hell, they are a nation. Some guys living in caves managed to kill off 3000 in a single attack, with a few more attacks under Bill Clinton's watchful eye (see the African embassy bombings, 3 October 1993 [Black Hawk Down for the uneducated], which had links to al-Qaeda, not to mention Osama's little statement about it. Hell, how could I leave out an attack on a warship [USS Cole in Yemen]?). Who is to say that a person with one of the world's largest land armies couldn't pull off the same, if not much, much more?

    - Whose lands have we destroyed? If you're making a reference to Iraq, Poland, the UK, Australia, and a few other nations can all fall under that very same blanket statement. Why single out the US? Whose resources have we stolen recently? I'm still paying way too much at the gas station if you're making a reference to oil.

    - Whose politics have we interfered with? Please explain.

    - It seems to me that when we sat back and did nothing, as we did under Bill Clinton, we were attacked by al-Qaeda alone at least four times. Is it just me or does sitting back and letting the world know that you won't do jack ---- to prevent/avenge an attack not work?

    - I wonder why the world hates America. I also wonder why half of the world are such hypocrites, calling the US on faults that their own nations have committed ten fold. My theory on the hatred:
A certain guy named Clinton was in office from 1992-2000. This man named Clinton was an appeaser. An appeaser (nation-state wise) is one who will bend to the wills of others, the media, or anyone else who *might* have a problem with his country. Bush stepped into office and cut that bull---- out. It made people angry, but they haven't touched us since 9-11, when Bush cut the bull---- with foriegn nations and terrorist groups. Seems to me that certain nations and people out there can't grow up and grow some balls. Quit knocking America for every problem you seem to have.

American funded companys have been taking over the oil feilds and resources in south america and other 3rd world countires for centuries. Shows how much you know. Terroirst dont agree with your politics because your politics are always intfering and oppersing people. I hate Al-Quadea but that doesnt make america's crimes alright. Ever heard of rain forest getting cut down? Yeah thoose are usually by western (usually america) nations. The UN is run by America. Look at Israel, the majoirty of the council said that Israel should get out of Palestine, it got to the security council and Ameirca vetoed it, nice to see America is stopping killing /scarsam. Yea a Civil War that is instegate by the Americans.

America vetoed it because it disagreed with her policy, much like China, France, the UK, or any of the other veto-holding members could've. Don't blame the US for the incompetence of an organization.

We (America) don't even HAVE rain forest up here. Shows how much you know ;).

If we're funding those people taking over oil fields, I've yet to see profit. You do know that most of the oil-dependant countries fund those companies as well. It's not just the US; quit being so damned biased.

If we (Americans) "instigated" a civil war in Iraq, get to blaming the UK and Australia and everyone else over there. Blame them all or blame none of them, you biased tool. And by the way, is it America's fault that people who are hiding behind religion are shooting at each other? In case you didn't notice, it's between Sunni and Shi'a Muslims, this sectarian violence. I fail to see how a nation that isn't even Muslim has a hand in religious violence.

I have yet to see the US "oppressing" people. Show me, please. You're spouting off baseless rhetoric that's filled with about as much lies as a North Korean propaganda film.

We do cut down the rain forest, but as we go we plant new trees. That's what trees are for, to cut down and use the wood. Either way that has nothing to do with Iraq. I've noticed Mach is very biased twoards America. I tend to lean more because he's a Muslim. Which is fine, dislike whoever you want. However, don't try to make it look worse then it is, please.

Hmmm, after just browsing through this topic, I have seen a lot of good points, and a lot of really crappy ones. Again, if you are a teenager, you really shouldn't be starting things you really can't comprehend. I am active duty military, and have done 2 tours in Iraq now since this thing began. I have also visited Bahrain, Dubai, and countless other countires associated with the United Arab Emirates.

Let me be the first to assure you that if we were not in Iraq right now, our freedoms would most certainly be violated if not taken away. Any of you who have not been over there and experienced things first hand really have no room to talk. To those of you who expressed respect for those of us who are over there staring this stuff right in the eye, I do appreciate it. I find it somewhat disheartening to learn that there are so many people out there who do not realize exactly what I have done for this country.

I will not be the first, nor the last to agree that there is some economical interest in what we are doing, but it is mainly for the preservation of what we have right now. We, as Americans, take a lot of things for granted, simple things like the right to vote, or to go to school. Many countries do not afford their citizens this opportunity. Do you think that someone just got a wild hair up their ass one day and decided, "Hey, I like the idea of being able to watch whatever I want to on TV without anyone bothering me about it."? If you're thinking in your head that the answer is yes, then you are very mistaken.

America is almost a country founded on beliefs and ideals that we found very wrong with other countries. You need to realize that at one point in time, the world had a very same idea of the way things should be ran. There were a few who saw things differently, and had to fight for what they believed in. That's how the United States was formed.

With saying that, the US has always had to defend their beliefs against a lot of countries who feel that the old way of doing things were better. A lot of these wars weren't started because of a greed for oil or territory, they were started because foreign countries didn't like the fact that their civilians were yearning for what we have.

Now onto the brutal facts, if you don't think that our freedoms are being compromised, I dare you to take your sorry ass over to Iraq and get a taste of what me and hundreds of thousands of other soldiers have gone through. Some days it seems like the Iraqis are more thankful for what we're doing than the Americans. Our own kind are looking down throwing ---- on us, and the only gratification we are getting is from strangers in a strange country. How would that make you feel? How would you like it if me and the millions of other people protecting you every day just sat back and said, "awwww... who gives a ----?" Do you really think that you would still be here? I seriously doubt it.

You people really need to crawl out from under whatever rocks you are living under and get a bigger picture of what is going on. Every day some American is losing his life for you to be able to sit on these forums and talk ---- about them. Yes, that's right... being able to do what you are doing right now is a priviledge, not a right. Countires like Iraq, China, Korea, and many others do not have the ability to use their minds and search and do things how they want. It's called government cencorship.

Before you go and start crying that this war is unecessary, I want you to put yourself in a soldiers boots, and step out into the front line. Only then will you be able to realize how lucky you are to even do something like starting a discussion on "Killing People For Our Freedom".
