It really saddens me how quckly Americans forget. Do you remember what happened on September 11, 2001? Do you not recall the thousands of INNOCENT AMERICAN CITIZENS who were killed by people of Al-Quaeda? Some of us even knew these people, evenm lived with these people, even loved these people, and yet we call this an "immoral war" or a "war for oil". Well in my opinion, you need to take a look at the bigger picture.

War is not something people want - nobody - not you, not me, not the Preident, no one. War is something that, at time, needs to be done. We can sit here and say, well yes I am free, but in actuality, your freedom may not be so permanent as you belive. Had we not gone over to the Middle East, and started this war, who knows what would happen. Terrorist attack would run wild more than likely, our own country would be unsafe - like a war in itself, and worst of all - more innocent Americans would be killed. Those people have no limits to their insanity. They hate our country because of what we are - a free democracy, a world power - hell, they hate people of their own country. Now, you may say, but we have killed people there too, innocent people, This may be true, but we avoid it as much axs possible, we are not a terrorist counrty we work for peace, but these people hve no intentions of negotiations, so we make them negotiate, we make them listen, we make them stop - ALL FOR OUR FREEDOM.

That is my two cents, and if you agree with me, good, if you don't, good. Just consider what I've said.

Cubans can't legally leave. Neither can North Koreans. Neither could Iraqis, pre-2003.

We (as in the coalition) killed a few hundred thousand? Try the sectarian violence and car bombings for the death toll. "We" and "terrorists" are two different groups.

The Koreans will probably be dealt with by the UN or NATO if they are dealt with; the US will not attack the Koreans on their own purely out of keeping what political respect we still have. The Cubans are the same, except they're not really doing anything right now except waiting on Fidel to die.

I hope you realize that there's a difference between "opposing" and "invading..."

They are fighting in Iraq for the freedom of the iraqis, *cough*and Oil*Cough*. If we didnt fight then they woudl keep attacking and some of these people have to be killed. I am not saying the war is right because i dont believe it is, but i think people dieing is a small price for our freedom and the freedom of all others

I think that killing other's for the sake of this country is necessary. I am not talking about the war in Iraq or any other war btw.

They didn't leave, largely, out of fear of the consequences. You try getting your entire family across the border. That's your aunts, uncles, and grandparents as well. Leave them behind, they suffer. Take them with you, all of you risk being shot because it's such a large group to take across.

The Iraqis are fighting for their freedom. Right now, the coalition is there to keep Iraq stable. Nobody's forcing you to join them. Personally, with that attitude, I don't think you're anywhere near being good for military service. Most people aren't, believe it or not.

Is that a bad thing? Does that make people "conservatives" and "radicals" just because they support the war in Iraq? I like to consider myself an independant, thank you.

No, I'm just stating that you seem to see the military as all dying, killing, etc. Did you know that about 80% of the military isn't considered "combat arms," and is in a support and logistical role? Did you know that only half of those who are in the Infantry actually see combat?

I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just saying that you have quite a negative attitude towards the military, and as such you would probably not be the best person to serve in the military. Don't take it the wrong way.

my whole pint to this wether it be said or not (too busy to actualy read all the posts at the moment)

is that in order to properly defend our freedom we need not fight elesewhere in the world but upon ammerican soil. We need not attack unless attacked. now the war on terrorisim, i agree with that we were attacked first. The war on iraq (yes you ----tards there 2 different wars) however is a different story we went over there to oust a corrupt leader. This leader has been removed from power for more than a year. There in a civil war its time for us to pack up and leave. As for ferret, indeed they can as provided for by the no child left behind act signed by George W Bush, they can request information from schools and if the student has not been put on an exclusion list they can specificaly target them. the only point i want to make is that we need not defend others liberties that do not effect us at all. we stay in the US we keep it to the US and we stay out of others ----.

We had the way of thinking for a great deal of time. Back during WWII the USA was considered a very isolationist country, it wasn't until a few good years in WWII did the USA actually enter the war itself.

As for the war in Iraq, look at this way. The war against Saddam and Iraq is over, we won. What we are doing there now is create a stable environment for that when we do eventually leave that the country will be able to handle itself and not return to the terrorists infested land that is was and thus compromise our safety. Safety is the reason we are over in Iraq, not our freedom. Freedom sounds better, more like we are at the core of our ideals. But in a way our safety is a freedom. Believe it or not there are very few countries where people can feel truly safe to just exist. It is something we all take for granted because we all have it.

Also another aspect one has to consider when concerning the Iraq war is how just being over there protects America. Where is all the terrorist activity and attention focused on? Iraq. Where are they not focused on? The US and other countries. Us being over there works double in that we are fighting terrorists and keeping them occupied and away from attacking the USA (even though they keep claiming they will).

The biggest though I don't agree with, is when people walk up to military people and decide to give them a hard time. These are men and women who have devoted their lives to protecting you, and if so will give their life to save yours. To go up and give them a hard time really doesn't make any sense to me and it is sad to see younger people feeling they can do this. Our men and women in uniform are heroes through and through. They should be treated with respect. The complaining should be sent to the government officials, not officers.

correction most of the terrorist attacks are focused from the alqueda and Gihad Ieme (sp?) alqueda primarily functions from afghanistan and saudi arabia as thats where binladens fathers oil refinerys are located.

GI however is known to be active in the pacific islands. theyve attacked plenty of people how come we dont declare a war on them?
