There's no way to be 100% sure of any standpoint. I've gone through huge lists of "contradictions" in the Bible, and foudn that over 100 (over time) are just overgeneralized/out-of-context. The Bible seems to be able to predict events. I fully understand that this isn't some kind of definitive proof. Considering the probabilities, it oughta mean something. The following references are quoted from www.BibleGateway.com NIV Please don't read the Bible without conext. Check up on the context of these scriptures if you're really trying to decide if this is true or not. The Bible predicted: 1) Messiah's descent from Abraham ------------------------------------ 2) Messiah's tribe 3) Messiah's descent from David ------------------------------------ 4) ------------------------------------ 5) Messiah's Life, Reception, and death ------------------------------------ Chornology of Messiah 6) ------------------------------------ Since these were all in different languages and times, it wouldn't be logical to assume the apostles were just replying to the prophecies. Don't be fooled and think the Bible was a book that somebody wrote. It was over thousands of years, all over the world, all different languages, etc. It was combined into what we know as the "Bible" after Jesus. I vote Divine. -T-
Let me give you some background info. Jesus's divinity was decided at the council of nicae (sp?) There was the people who believed in Arianism who believed he was man (fully mortal), then there was others who believed he was fully divine. Constantie at first sided with the followers of Arianism but eventually he agreed with the people who thought he was fully divine. But the council decided that he was a man, but divine at the same time.
hes a man, and these religion topics need to stop being brought up, all they do is cause controversy and flaming and spamming. This is a forum, and being a forum, it is intended for no one over the age of 13 (meaning 13 and younger should be able to understand, comprehend, and not be insulted via images and discussions) on the site. The average intelligence of a 13 year old can't even begin to comprehend the existence of a divine other then the bare simple rules (as in they can understand something came from nothing, etc.). Jesus, I don't believe necessarily to be a prophet, and definitely not a divine being, a man, maybe an extraordinary man, but a man, pure mortal. Through all of the numerous religious scripts I have read (most of the english translated versions of the large religions, and a few underground 'cult' type religions as well as different religions such as pagan, wiccan, demonology, etc.). They can all agree on a fact that there was a man, who did miraculous things. Some call him the son of god, some of them call him a man, and some of them call him a prophet. IMO, the things he did are not documented in everything (such as the thick curtain tearing, and the darkness spreading amongst the world, etc) in all religions, but some of the -------magic type tricks were. So, until I can see more than a 50% on anything other then 'man' for proof, I won't believe otherwise, and its just more realistic. Prophets are regular everyday men who have been touched by the word of god (not a religious manuscript, but an actual dream whilst speaking with god or something) and can call upon what they talked about to predict the future happenings. Jesus, in many scriptures, said that a day of reckoning, or revelation would come when he came back to earth, and that is the prophecy backing up most religions believing him to be a prophet. Until that day happens, I will highly doubt that some dude over 2000 years ago came forth and told some people hes going to be coming back some time in the future for revelations... until then, my mind rests on him being a man, as said. edit: also note that its almost 1am, so if my post seems ignorant, its not, I am very well educated in the realm of religion, as religion put simply is a belief shared amongst the masses, which is psychology, and I am majoring in psychology, so these types of discussions come up all the time. Also note that if there is any form of belittling another members religion, or race via the stereotypical religion for their race(if the religion/race go hand in hand, such as asian/buddhist or hindu, etc.), or any form of spamming or flaming goes on in this topic, it will be closed and most likely a few members warned formally (increasing of your warning level). This is your first and last warning. If you can't remain mature in this topic, I suggest not posting in it.
Why.. you did To claim he is divine with little or no supportable evidence is what you have done. And sorry those passages are not supportable evidence. If they were provable we wouldnt be having this debate And for the record, there is sufficient historical evidence to verify the existence of christ. Just read some of Josephus accounts. As to his divintiy....I think not
wow... um  lol can u explain? u cant really just straight up say something out of the blue like that and expect it to be taken as fact. yea, i think ill be done with htis "debate" shortly... idk yet
Sure he existed, but I just don't think he was anything amazing, I think he is just a man. I have no supporting evidence, thats just my opinion ^^
Hmm...okay, neither are most historical scholors.. Anyways, somewhere in the Bible it says Jesus was more then man, but less then the angels, while he was on earth. I couldn't even begin to tell you where to look, but I remember reading it once. Jesus had nothing to do with the Muslims...mainly because the Muslim religion hadn't even been thought of at this point in History. Muhamad was the founder, and he didn't come 'til long after Christ. I guess there is no way to "prove" his divinity, persay. It's all faith. Same with the Muslims believing he was only a prophet. It's all faith, not fact.
