I have been a member here for quite a while, I have seen trends come and go, but it seems if you don't follow the trends and make all your signatures straight from a tutorial, you are instantly dubbed as a noob. From what I have seen, the trends just seem to get more rediculous as time goes on. First it was the c4d trend, where if you didn't have 20 c4d renders in your sig, or "tag" it wasn't worth looking at, and was not "original art" I mean, what could be more original then using someone eleses render for 89% of your background? Then after that people started adding random lines to signatures, it somehow came off as being artistic, though I don't see why. Then people started cropping parts of the render or sprite and pasting it all over the sig. now I visit gamerenders again, and find everyone has 10 thousand bubbles in their signatures, with perhaps a c4d to add some texture. Does anyone here even care how their work really looks anymore? It dosn't seem so. Call me crazy but having the sig crunched and mashed with C4D's, bubbles, and lines dosn't look appealing to me at all. Please feel free to post your comments here. (My guess is they will mostly be negative saying I am a moron.)

you`re a moron lol jk ^_^ I think its more of a personal choice to use c4ds or lines its all about the artists opinion and what he/she likes

Yep what you said is right. I've seen some very good signature makers produce some shocking crap at times...all for the sake of following a trendy style and not following their talents.

I'm New Here, And Even On The Other Forums I Have Been On, Many Of The Artists Mindlessly Follow Trends. Which Can Be Quite Annoying Seeing As You Feel Like You Are Looking At Similar Things Over And Over Again.

But, There Are Some Who Dont... And They Produce The Pieces That Generally Stand Out, And Look The Most Creative And Often Look Better That The Others...

There Will Always Be Followers... I Doubt Its Gonna Change Anytime Soon

    i agree bnut
when a --- makes a new style tag
    everyone follows it
but if a underanked person does
they say ---- about it saying you need to fix this and stuff

I was shocked to see alot of the same style sigs when I come here, and I went into the sigs area and saw a hell of a lot of nice sigs shown, yet no comments?

I stick to my own style and pick up new things from tuts and try to put it into my current style as an addition, if I like something I generally stick to it instead of following the trend

Even if people do think my work sucks.

    But then again i'm a n00b here ;D

i've always tried to be true to my own style. i'm not currently wearing any of my really original stuff (cept for my sprite sig, which is a new style itself ). but i prefer stuff like this:

i never got into c4d usage that much. any tags that included abstracts, i made the abstracts myself. see:

so you see, you CAN use the trends to your advantage. just apply them in a new and different way!

I totally agree - it is why I make it my business here to buy the tags of the noobs or no names here, as the ---'s or ------'s think that their ---- don't stink - they would never lower themselves to buy a tag off a noob, despite the fact I have bought many awesome tags for next to nothing :D

    Support the newcomers - that's where the originality is :D :D :D
