he would, but if you don't count modifying timings as overclocking then he'd get the best performance at 1:1 with tweeked subtimings

I just don't think he plans on "tweaking" anything.

In that instance, he could get a cheaper motherboard (if you're pressed for money.)

if he isn't tweeking anythign whatsoever, he'd be ebst off with an S3, cheepo RAM and an e6600 which is somewhat less memory/bus dependant due to more cache

still say e6400 on a moderate OC at stock ro below stock voltages is the best way to go. Mine is rock steady with 1.248V(after vDroop) at 3.066GHz(and possibly study lower I just don't want to comprimise stability) and my BIOS doesn't even allow for this i have to have ti set to do this on startup with crystalCPUid.

what I was getting at though is, the 533set(assumign it hasn't changed and still uses micron d9 ICs) could easily be set to the same settings as the DDR2-800 set without issue since the ICs are made on the same dang assembly line.

Ok, sorry I haven't been to visit this topic for literally ages - sorry. :(

As for the computer, I'm still playing around with the money I have, which isn't much at all. Going through everything I have available to me (wish they had Newegg in Australia) and the suggestions of other people over and over again, I feel like getting:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
    Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-S3
    Memory: Kingston KVR800D2N5K2/1G 1GB
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB
Graphics card: Gigabyte GeForce 7600GT 256MB
    CD/DVD drive: Pioneer DVR-111 Black DVD-RW
    Floppy drive: Black 1.44MB
    Case: Coolermaster Mystique RC-632-SSN1-GP Silver
    Cooling: Included in case
    PSU: Antec TruePower 2.0 550W
Keyboard and mouse: Gigabyte GKM-RM01CP Slim Multi-Media Desktop
    Operating system: Windows XP Home

Do you guys think this is a good build? I'll be upgrading to 2 gigabytes of RAM and a new graphics card some time later. Since I only want to play CSS, WC3 and BF2 at decent settings and without lag, I think this would be fine for now.

However, will my PSU be good enough when I do finish that upgrade?

    Cheers everone. :D

Problem is that I live in Australia and my dad likes to buy stuff from shops, as opposed to online. :(

if you want you can, just remember that for memory performance brand doesn't matter jsut what you can run it at and what you can run it at it 95% determined by what ICs it uses.
