    Why not?

And no, it wont run properly, your processor is way too slow.

If bf2142 is anything like bf2 was its a RAM hog and really with a weak processor you are in some deep water. Though you can run cod2 it requires a slightly weaker processor then 2142

to play it well you'de want
    2.0GB+ RAM
video card with atleast 12 or 16pixel pipelines and 256mb vRAM
    proc- 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo, 1.8GHz athlon 64, 3.0GHz P4, 2.4GHz athlon XP, 2Ghz Sempron(64), 3.4Ghz Celeron D, 1.8Ghz Pentium M, 2.0GHz Celeron M, 1.8Ghz Core Duo

for all of the above, you'de also need a new motherboard, and a new powersupply.

you'de pretty much be looking at an entirely new system, might be able to reuse some of the CD drives but that is about it.

Radeon 9550 has 4 pixel pipeliens clocked at 300mhz I beleive..

    uhh
    what I listed wasn't a perfect computer

    it was baseline for acceptable.

    realistically, it will want

    3+GB RAM
2.66GHz Core 2 duo or higher
    GeForce 7950GX2, or 8800GTS/X or a Radeon x2k card

essentially, what i listed was about half the performance of the above.

and no youre video card wont' run it, it isn't even acceptabel for Battle field 2, yet alone 2142.

it has 4 pixel pipelines, and I beleive they are clocked at a mere 250mhz. RAM is only 128 bits wide running at 400mhz, as well severaly comprimising bandwidth. TO put it in perspective the system RAM in my computer can run at 1.1GHz

and 512mb ram will not even play BF2, it might, but on the lowest settings.

OK ALL NEW PROCESSORS NEED NEW MOTHERBOARDS. NO CURRENT MOTHERBAORD SUPPORTS THE OLD sdRAM STANDARD SO YOU NEED NEW RAM(for multiple reasons). THEN YOU NEED A NEW GFX CARD TO GET THE GAME TO START

and you'de want a new graphics card anyway since the game was designed fro a much faster card.
to put it into perspective, the chip in the xbox 360 is about 25 times as powerful and this game has "better than 360 graphics" and EA isn't known for making games which scale well
    there you go...

you also kinda need a DVD drive.
