Please Help(gradients)

Something is wrong with my gradients, they dont fade out with the color they should, they just stay the main color.. How can I make them fade out again?

You see its supposed to be blue to orange, but its just plain orange...I want it blue to orange.

if you want a gradient bg pick the 2 colors you want and then use gradient tool its next to the eraser tool also dont go changing the image mode to 16 bit/8 bit etc. unless you know what you are doing

also leave the image mode in RGB and start out with a transparent BG

 

it's cuz u r using the Gradient Map and not the Gradient Tool

the Gradient Map is something different...the Gradient Tool will actually give u a gradient in your piece
