I really don't know what to do with the banner, nothing works, it sucks at the moment and doesn't work. Suggestions on what to do with that are appreciated.

Any other suggestions are welcomed too.

It actually looks extremely -----, and could be used for ANYTHING.

As far as that emptiness at the top, fake a website description. That seems like the perfect place to put one.

banners are always REALLY hard. I really like what you've done with the template so far though. Maybee too much straight gradients. possibly try adding some 3d glow or something?? great job so far though.

One of the better templates i've seen round here, quite like it. Well put together, good buttons and content areas and nice layout.

    Nice.

Really, great job on that. The banner is fine the way it is with just that picture on. You don't want to overdo it or anything.

The content box sticks out at the right had side about 1px just below the banner. :)

The top navigation (buttons) don't really seem to fit the page very well. Maybe just trying 1 extended box with the same gradient on it. With green text for the navigation.

    Great job.

Works for me. Try this: http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/6706/tgcopylh7.png

Wonderboy, I'm playing around with the navigation at the moment, and I'll look at what you said about the content box, and fix it.

Thanks for the comments/suggestions, I'm currently updating it with what Wonderboy said, and suggestions from other forums.

Hmmm. The new banner... I'm not sure. The banner has to tell what the website is about. I'm guessing it doesn't have a purpose at the moment it's just a template you made.

Personally i like the image of the sea as a banner.

Although the one you have changed it too isn't that bad. I would change the picture of the laptop to a better one though.

Let me know how you get on with the navigation ;)

The website didn't have a theme, but then someone suggested that I pretend I'm making it for a company, and you make up what the company is about. I decided it would be about portable technology, thus the train and the laptop. I'll look for better pictures to use though.

    Yeah, really good template.

    Improvements?:

    1) The links on the left hand side shouldn't have gradients on them - because when it is coded, you won't want them as images. Also, the whole link section looks a bit odd. The bullet points look to close to the links and the top link seems a little cramped at the top.

    2) How about adding a footer? If you're selling it as a template then people will want a copywright logo, terms & conditions etc.

    3) Whole thing looks a bit flat against the background. Drop shadow perhaps?

    4) Advertisment links might look a bit better little further from the left edge. Not much, maybe 3-5px.

Those are the main ones. I can think of a few more but I have reached the limits of my pedantism.

Great template and I hope that helps. :D

    Very, very nice template!

Ive noticed that the 1st "more links" and the 2nd one are too close together, move it up a tad. Also where the main news meets the navigation bar, maybe have the navigation bar overlap it a little instead of them just meeting at one point.

    Overall great template though!
