    Ok
So I have posted this like a month ago and my parents denied it last time that they wont get me a computer, becasue they didnt want to get me one :(

but now I have got another chance to get it in like 18days or so(nov. 8th when my SAT scores are online :D )

    So from my last thread
    I got two recommendations

    to either buy an Alienware:
    http://alienware.com/product_detail_pages/...ode=SKU-DEFAULT

or one from I Buy Power PC
    http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=187

I got the ibuypower recomendation for buying from diable
and the alienware from xelink (i think)

so i was wondering if anyone would tel me which one is better
both price wise and also the performance
or if you have a nice site wheere i can get intel dueal core 2 processor for a low price around 1500bucks USD or less but with a really nice graphics card

    edit:
    ooh forgot to say
    which edition shoud i get
    XP Home edition
    Media center edition
or ----- edition (got alot of recommendation for that)

so anyone want to help me and get some cookies from me

    ^_^

    Hey dude ^_^
If you're confident enough, I'm sure you could build a PC.
If not, go with the Alienware or IBuyPower, I prefer the IBP one though.
Is it a laptop you're wanting? Or a desktop?

    A Labtop

and I'd say the IBP one.. xD

I can list reasons why if someone thinks otherwize.
Home should be fine.. idk if --- or media center is worth it, but I dont know so much...
someone get Zain that comparison chart :D

i dont think so w/the Vaio personally

I personally would go with IBP. But make sure you get the essentials on the computer that make it worth it.

Some things to get so you don't get jipped are

a core 2 that is T7200-T7600 nothing less
    a 7200rpm Hard Drive.
1024MB(1024MB X1) DDR2-667 PC5300 ram its faster and cheaper to upgrade.

Those three things should make your computer a lot better deal and it wont cost that much to upgrad from the stock.

As far as windows, go for --- especially in a laptop. Media center will be bloated and not usually somethign someone will use in a laptop also if your going to be using this for college most colleges require you to have --- so that you can connect to their network and domain. Somehting that media center won't let you do.

Hahaha, xelink recommening an alienware, he must've been on weed, unless there was something really good.(extrme bang/buck)
If you don't want to put your own pc together, go for IBP one.

Well the AW isnt that bad for price, coming from an AW hater.. but ibuypower was better, he had just misread something before....

and I disagree, rather than getting 1x1gb, I'd get 2x512mb. Should work better, no huge change but its nice.
unless you plan on adding another 1gb of the same kind later on, then the 1x1gb might be nice...

    Hush minion <_<
2x512mb is better and faster than 1x1gb because it spreads the load over 2 sticks rather than one, meaning more well balanced performance!

no i switched sides when i saw i misread the thing, i recomend cyber PC in your scenario...

though to a point now, it does depend as the alienware model is only 60$ more. check their warranty info as i am not familiar with either's now.

    EDIT:
what the guy above tried to say was this...
when you use two sticks they read /write simultaneously(this is called dual channel) it is aeffectively using your RAM in 128 bit mode vs. 64. decent performance gain rom this.

eh, i would build a custom one over any company. you could save alot of money by going custom. yours could be better than sony's.

Sony will lowball you on the specs on the Hard drive an dthe Ram. The ram is only 533 and the hard drive is only 4200 or 5400 if you pay to upgrade.

To get the sony close enough to one from IBP you will end up spending atleast 1700 and it still won't be as good as the one form IBP.
