Steam Accounts

I'm not entirely sure what a steam account is.

If you have one what can you do?

I see SS of people where they have games on them and they say "Not Downloaded" or "Pre-Loaded".

So more or less what I'm asking is if I don't have the game CS if I buy a Steam account from someone here. Can I Download CS from the Steam account.

It is a game engine. You buy games like Half Life, COunter Strike etc from the website or add your games CD key and it will allow you to play the games without using the CD's. It keeps you games updated with current patches etc.

The actual client is free, but you need to add your CDkeys or buy games to play, They do offer demo's which you can install and play for free.

Not Downloaded= You own the game but it is not installed.
Pre-Loaded= New release that has not been installed or full release has not been released yet.

If you buy one from someone, you dont need the CD's to play, once you download the client, you type in the username and password you get from the account seller. You then install the games on the account and play as normal.

Be sure to change the password and e-mail account, plus change any other setting you wish excpet the username, it stays.

 

How much would a decent one cost?

 

That is of course, assuming they have CS associated with that acount. Just by buying a steam acount doesnt mean you get CS.

And the program Steam costs nothing. To put it simple, its a free program that manages the programs you buy from the Steam Store (among other things).

 

So if I buy a steam account with... hmm lets say GUN. Once I upload my steam account will i be able to play GUN?

 

If your talking about gunz, thats a seperate game that doesnt have anything to do with steam

Username and Password

you log on change the pass and email and secret question.

Then the account is totaly yours, now itll have all the games listed and say not-dowloaded, you will need to dl all the games off steam. onece downloaded you can play, you log into the account and click on the game you want to play and it starts

 

u cna only buy games that are accosiated with steam. you cannot buy battlefield 2142 off of steam. Steam is a free program that just manages the games you have bought from companies that are accosiated with steam like Valve. you can check out their webiste to see more info: www.steampowered.com

Im assuming you mean that if you had an account with the game on it, if you can just automatically start playing, I don't think thats possible.

 

Judging though by what everyone else says though you can.

 

You must launch the game from the list, it wont just automatically start when you log into your Steam account.

But yes, you just sign into your account and select your game from your list and it will launch and you start playing.
