I already have a webhost and a domain registered and it's been running for almost 2 years. I have recently been thinking about changing hosts because of the price and what's offered now a days. I am currently with Yahoo for hosting and this is what's offered to me.

    5gb Space
    200gb Transfer
    A very nice control panel
    MySql + PHP admin support.
    $15 USD/month
I can provide other stats if needed.

I was thinking recently of changing hosts because I have seen better offers from other hosts. The only thing that concerns me is the actual transfer of my domain, website and forums ect.

Could you guys help me with the steps that would be needed in order to change hosts? and maybe some suggestions on your preferred webhost providers?

    Any help would be appreciated.

If I back up the SQL files for the forum and upload them onto the new host, I'll need to do all the databases seperately correct?

Also, any idea of what changes will be needed to the PHP files of the forum? It's an IPB with quite a few mods added already. I would hate to have to start from scratch but I might just have too. It would be worth it in the long run because of the price and features of the other hosts.

I wouldn't want to go with the hosting here on GR because of reliability. I want to make sure my site is up and running at all times and not go down because I didn't pay my credits some month or the person hosting it closes the site. Also, most people here on GR only offer sub-domains so that will not cut it. I will be paying by credit card so paypal will not be necessary. The thing about Yahoo is it's very reliable; I've had my site running for almost 2 years now and it's never been down due to server issues.

I'm looking for more functionality and options. i've noticed when using a PHP script for uploading (ie. User uploaded video) it cuts off fairly early. The user can only upload very small files but I'm looking to host up to 100mb videos. This is just one thing that I am looking for... ;)

Why are you suggesting them? Have you done business with them before?

Yes, you'll have to do them seperatly no matter what. It's a pain in the ass, but it needs to be done, suggestion, get everything up on the new server before you change nameservers.

A good host is Universal-Host. He is here at GR and is pretty cheap also. So you might want to look him up

When I messed up my forums and upload one of the backups, I just had to edit the config.php file in the main directory (although I used PHPBB forums)
