Finally somebody speaks the truth. GIMP is a great program and also a respectable alternative for linux users, just because it doesn't do everything photoshop does it doesn't make it ----. Im betting most of you haven't even spent any time using GIMP. For proffesional graphic work and print work photoshop is far superior. But that doesn't apply to many people here as most only do sigs so i don't see how many of you can even rate the program. I love how you all think your pro.
GIMP is harder to learn in, the menus and the features are kind of confusing. The Gimp is good, but using photoshop is more simpler. The gimp can get graphics like ps, but it's usually hard to do for some techniques.
You obviously know nothing. As ferret said, GIMP is FREEWARE and was made for LINUX. Photoshop does work on mac, want proof? Here it is. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/pro...tform=Macintosh NOW ----ING SMOKE THAT! Also, Photoshop DOES work on Linux, using a Windows copy with a little fine tuning. http://www.alexandern.com/Photoshop_on_Linux_(how_to).html
Photoshop is better. But it obviously costs more. But hey, how many people here have actually bought PS legally? *wink wink nudge nudge*
me! i dont get it of LIMEWIRE. LW just is good for some things not really programs, you might find the good one out of 608. I give up on the 5th download i try.
How many of the people here saying 'PS pwns GIMP' or something have actually used the GIMP for an extended time? Not much eh...
Photoshop is overall much better then GIMP. But I use Gimp and you CAN get some decent looking work if you work hard enought.
Photoshop cost 649.99 gimp is fee. Gimp is way worse than photoshop. Photoshop is way more better and has way more better effects, You can do some good stuff on gimp but it still sux compared to ps.
I've never heard of a anyone making a living as a designer or artist using gimp. It's not used by any design firms or ad agencies either. In fact, I'd never even heard of it until about a week ago and I've been a working artist for years. I can't judge the quality of the program because it's not something I'm even remotely familiar with. But, I can recommend both Photoshop and Painter as high quality art/design programs used by working artists and designers world-wide. That's my $0.02. Hope it helps.
