okay, so i'm just wondering like do you prefer to fight with your dominant hand in the back or front? i personally like it in the front because ic an't block well with the off-hand and i like stronger jabs? how bout you guys?
To be honest, you shouldn't favor one side more then the other when it comes to a fighting stance, it provides your opponent with an open and obvious weakness. You should be able to switch between having left or right be the leading hand, depending upon the stance of your feet. However, if you are going to favor one hand, it really doesn't matter if its in the front, or back. You can throw just as strong a punch either way, as long as you execute the punch properly. You need to make sure, and not just use your arm for the punch, but your entire body. Say for example, if you are punching with the hand thats the back hand, you would use not only your arm, but torque your waist to put more emphasis and power into the punch. That way your using more muscles, and focusing more strength into a central point. Another tip, for making all your punches equally strong, is to never aim for just the part you want to hit. Say for example, your going to punch someone in the nose. You aim to hit the nose, then stop, you actually lose power by doing that. If you aim for beyond, whats behind the nose...it helps you follow through with your punch and make it over all more strong.
ppl say put dominant hand back because you jab with the weaker hand and you get more power from the back hand? iunno...
either: Left hand forward, right back- left for blocking right for power Or Both infront for defencive on both sides, & then I can power it when I need to
i favor placing my right(dominant hand) in front when in close quarters don't know whay everyone says its for jabbing, it's for blocking and elbowing really) when more in the open i lead with my left. here's a good tip - aim for the obliques, it's surprisingly effective they are relatively weak on mot people because almost noone works them(myself included)
Here's another idea, just finish the fight before stance really matters, straight knuckle shot to the jaw with a follow through with the elbow... OR... dont even punch and swipe your arm in front of the neck and wrap your inner elbow around the front of their throat, put your leg behind their leg and throw them down backwards, a much more controlled and potentially much less lethal way of assuring your opponent is one the ground, when, from my personal experience and training, leaves you with much more versatility and power in the overall fight. For boxing though (like sports boxing), i leave my left arm out front and right arm in back normally (since the majority of the world is right handed, their strong blows can go againt my left arm while i counter with my right), but i often change it up based on my feet stance when boxing (and yes, i do box at gyms from time to time just for practice and working my upper body).
When boxing, i think it is prefered to keep your dominant hand behind you weaker hand ie. For most people that means having their left hand out front. I think this is mainly for jabs etc... and because you main hand is further back, you are able to generate more power.
Actually, the position of you dominant hand depends on which position you one, Offensive or Defensive. Dominant in front can take more hits which means defense and dominant in the back has more swing power which means higher offense. The postion of your dominant arm also reflects your personality.
You shouldn't realy on one hand, your other jabs have to be offective too. If you have been trained in Martial Arts or anything else you would know...
