I got home from school today, which included another visit from a college representative - this time from Duke University. Being a junior, I am already wondering about all things college: college life, classes, majors, and so on. I also know there a probably quite a bit of high schoolers on this forum as well, so I decided to see where you guys stood on all this.

Personally, I can' t wait for college. I plan to go to the East Coast (of the US) to get away from my home on the West. I hope to study political science and international relations at a school like Duke, Yale, Georgetown, or George Washington University. Beyond just the change in lifestyle and classes, I look forward to trying things like college-level Model UN and making new friends in a whole new social atmoshpere. How about you guys?

College so far is one of the best times of my life. Though it comes with more responsibility, the freedom is well worth it.

Wow  that's a nice batch of colleges you're looking into. Anyway I just started my second year at college and it's a breath of fresh air, there's so many classes to choose from and the freedom that comes with college is also really nice. The only thing that sucks is parking O_O

Guessing you live in RI? I was actually looking at JWU up there, possibly URI since a few of my friends go there as well and we'd be able to rent an apartment or something together and save some money in theory. I've been up there for vacation and like the area, so I figured why not.

I'm just hoping to not only get the most out of my education there for the future, but have a good time while doing so. I know everything won't be like Animal House, but I'm pretty excited for it.

take a few units at a local community college(not necessarily hard classes just average like psych or sociology) and it will help you get a fealing for the lower division. Then take a harder class like an english or math classa nd see what the upper division is like. college is harder than AP if you f' around or it is easier depending.

again you choose allt he classes so it's as hard or as easy as you like. my advice si to knock out general ed first at a community college where ti si cheap then take the upper division major specific classes at a real college.

Southern Cal, around LA and San Diego. I dont want to jump into a UC unless UCLA or UC Berkley since they are better for political science, but Id prefer somewhere in the East. Closer to New York (United Nations HQ) and Washington, D.C. (Congress Building) so better political internships.
