You Kids Really Bother Me Sometimes.
Now I know I am surrounded by a lot of 13 and 14 year olds here.
However, that is no excuse to be ignorant.

When bashing something, at least know what you are talking about.

Emo Music is not bands like Green Day, MCR, Atreyu or any other crappy TRL ---- you kids see on MTV.

Emo is not combover hair and thick glasses.

You kids are stereotyping to the max.

Real Emo music is bands that I am sure you little kids never heard of because you are too wrapped up in your little televisions and whatever the other cool kids are making fun of.

Bands like: Jawbox, Rites of Spring, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Braid, Sunny Day Real Estate, Cap'n Jazz, The Promise Ring and Mineral.

I could go on forever because this is all stuff I was listening to 7 and 8 years ago when most of you were still in like 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.

Emo music came from hardcore punk music in the 80's.
It all started when the Punks started getting artsy and making softer and more emotional music.

Again, I could explain this all to you forever, but the point I want to make is stop being so closed minded and think before you speak or type.

If you want to bash something, at least know what you are talking about.

If you would like to listen to some real Emo music and not the crap you kids have your heads filled with, check out the bands I listed above or PM me for more music to check out.

I hope you learned something from reading this.

Language can only be defined as what people use it as.

Have to agree with Hella, why do people judge people anyway by the way they dress and the music they listen to, they are no different to us.

People go through alot of ---- in their life and deal with it in different ways.

I find it annoying sometimes, good point that you've made Hella.

    Agreed,

what hes saying is that a slang in this part "emo" will always be defined but what the majority of the people want it to mean. They will define it as they see it. It might not be the right definition but they dont care. Because slang will always be slang. A word over here might mean 1 thing then I go to the next city 30 mins away and the same words means the exact oppisite.

So all words are defined by what we want it to.

Ok, Thanks for clearing that up.
I thought maybe he was in the wrong thread, hahaha.

    I just woke up...

But yes, that does make sense, but is still no excuse for ignorance.

sry, but it looks like you just took the more common definition of emo, said a couple bands weren't, then restated everything everyone already knew it to be :/

Alot of the bands on MTV are emo bands. None of the ones you named, but there are alot of emo bands on MTV. Just because they are mainstream doesn't take away the fact that they are ----ty emo bands.

    You Are Wrong.
Real Emo Music Is Not On MTV.

Just Like Real Punk Music Is Not On MTV.

Mainstream Media Is A Brainwashing Machine.

tbh the thing that gets on my nerves is that if someone gets classified as an chav or whatever they are gonna go out there way to change or become more of that classification. Sorta gets on my nerves.
