k i already did alot of reserch bout overclocking so i just tried 2 overclock but when went into the BIOS menu/setting i couldnt fin anything that relates 2 bus speed,FSB, etc heres my specs, so fi can help on where should i look and how much should i overclock 2 not 2 much like around 3.1Ghz so FYI: im running on xp home edition, celeron D 341
if you have a comp;uter from an OEM like Dell or HP there is a very high chance they disabled it. also, an overclock to 3.1GHz wouldn't do too much, it's like a 6% increase in clock speed, that's effectively negligeable. The average human can't feal performance diferences too much at even 10% only starts to be noticeable at around 20+% that said I have a damn near 50% OC on my CPU i do beleive you'de get a rather large performance bosot from running your RAM in dual channel though, or running DDR 400 vs. DDR333. celerons are rather memory sensative since they have very little l2 cache.
o well i hav eMachines does it appl 2 that and if i cant change it then is it safe 2 use a program/software that can do it 4 me
actually post some hard modifications intel's Badaxe board OCs moderately well... and yes emachines is in the same category as HP and Dell. check is the system supports dual channel memory though you can get a fairly significant performance boost from going to dual channel given that you're running a celeron.
Your bios is locked just as my old p4 from fujitsu. You can try to find your max with ClockGen; www.cpuid.com and apply it everytime you start. (there's an option for it)
