yep you definatly have a point (this is my first post in about 3 months, except for a topic in which i needed to advertise), credits were given out to people being nice, not just when you buy or sell something. those times were much nicer

Yes, because our entire intent is to suck the fun out of your life and keep you from having a good time. As long as you can be mature and you don't abuse the freedoms you have, there won't be any problems. Once we see a trend of people breaking rules or abusing the freedoms we give them to speak their mind, we start to crack down.

Just a shot in the dark, but if the mods are as horrible as you say they are, then why have they not locked this thread yet?

I have to admit that I left the mod team because of differences with the staff. I will never say, however, that any of the mods/admins I worked with were bad people. They simply had differing points of view, and I couldn't support some of the decisions the team went with.

Dude, the members changed. Remember the crews, the pixel-stretch fads, other fads and whatnot? This place was booming with people helping out and having some good battles.. just people having fun. Then at the beggining of '06 and there after, new members came on wanting to take advantage of gr creds and the "stock" and "tag" fad came in with it. More arrogant and immature people came as well. People changed, so we had to change the rules.
What rules are you guys having problems with? I'm not seeing any rules that would be affecting me if I were to post every day.

    f00ze!

I'll agree with this. For the better part of 2005, GR had a lot of great people here. There was a lot of talent and people were very willing to help out one another and be good community members. I started to see the change at the end of 2005 going into 06, when people began to disregard the entire idea of GR being a learning community, and people started selling tutorials. The emphasis on credits was disgusting, and it only makes sense that the staff had to crack down on people taking advantage of that as well as the assholes who came along with it.

    they are right tho man,

    GameRenders has changed. Tremendously.

i remember when i first joined, you could sell fullrights for a decent looking sig for 75 GR Credits, now they go for like 250.... same thing with tutorials. and the more members we've gotten, the more it has changed. and the more changes needed to be done.

Rules have to be in place, otherwise the forum would be a big mess - People smapping and flaming everywhere. People -rep'ing people because the "Feel" like it. No matter where you go, almost everywhere has rules to follow, even in the work place. Everywhere has rule.

As for the advertising rule, really. Who wants to have to go through 10 pages to see what people thing of your art for example. Because 3/4 of the page is filled with signatures. It's just a pain when people go over the top.

One thing i do think has changed, is that people have become credit greedy. Credits are great, because you can use them to get very usefull things such as Hosting etc.... But i'm pretty sure this forum was made for the purpose to "Help" people with their graphics etc.... which is great. But no when people are charging for lessons and huge ammounts for tutorials. I don't have a problem with people selling decent tutorials for a small price, because i know people put alot of time into them. But in the end they are made to help people. So let people benifit the most by helping others for free.

    Just my little say
