    like for people that have a mac, can't you just use disk utility, is it like partitioning ur ipod?

    NO, it's not PARTITIONING. It's Defragmenting. You can use another product for Defrags though, and at this moment, I do not have it on the top of my head. >.<

    I'm computer tech illiterate, so what exactly is defragmenting and would it void the warranty on it?

    I don't understand this at all, but I do have a Nano, haven't had any lag though, but I did on the one before my nano (which was my stolen nano).
